The cat had crossed into the territory moments before Chimera caught its scent. A lion, and an injured one at that. Injured animals were dangerous animals. Chi knew that there were children somewhere in the pack, welped by someone that he didn't care about. An easy meal for an injured lion. Chimera had given his word to Venom in exchange for certain promises. One of his own was to be an exemplary pack member. Protecting pack lands was part of that. And so he stalked the beast as it made its way to the shrine

The giant, dark maned lion was indeed injured. Slashes covered its face and front limbs. It had clearly lost a fight and was about to lose another. Rushing up behind the felin, Chi sank rows of shark teeth into its hip, shaking his head from side to side to tear deep gashes. The lion squealed and threw itself onto its back, paws and claws flailing. Back on its feet, it snarled and swiped at the dire boy, but missed by a mile. The pair of predators began to circle until Chi was between the lion and the shrine. It was a standoff.

"Speech"

Malachai had taken to wandering around the packlands with his claw covers on, they made him feel important and so it wasn't uncommon to see the boy strutting around with the weapons strapped on, which looked more like a gangly mishapen youth flopping around than the noble warrior he imagined, that was in part because he hadn't quite learned how to walk in the covers without having to over compensate by lifting his paws higher than necissary and that he was growing quickly, already taller than all his siblings and quickly approaching his mother in height, though he was still just a little under half her height. He was clearly going to be massive as an adult and was moving into the gangly stage of his development.

So it was that he was making his self-imposed rounds when the fight broke out. He was still young, but he was also determined to prove himself and keep training so when he spotted the frankly massive cat he didn't stop to consider that he was probably more than out matched. The boy skirted around the big cat, noticing one of his unknown number of cousins was currently keeping the lion's attention. Seeing an open the boy dashed forward, sinking small fangs into the back of one of the big cats hindlegs, right around it's flexor tendons. The creature roared in pain, temporarily forgetting the larger threat as it twisted it's head around to see the young wolf clamped onto it's leg. An angry paw flashing out to try and knock him off.

And suddenly the buffet that the lion had been looking for came right to him. A young boy threw himself into the fray. How stupid could you be? It was Chimera's intent to scare the lion back towards Armada lands and call for warriors to take it down, but now plans were forced to change. The boy, he didn't even know his name, ran forward and sank his measly teeth into the lion's heel. In an instant, the pain of the bite made the cat forget his original target. Wrinkling his nose in frustration, Chimera closed the distance between himself and the lion. It would be suicide to attack a lion head one. Their claws were deadly, he knew from experience. Instead, he ran to the other side and repeated the actions of the pup. Only his teeth were specialized and sliced through flesh and tendon much more easily. Whipping his head back and forth, Chi sought to damage the tendon enough so that the lion wouldn't be able to walk. The cat screamed and threw its weight to the side, kicking wildly with hind paws while swiping with front. Both dire boys would have to be careful not to get knicked. "Chimera Quill Klein"
