Viper and Chimera seemed to be on a same wave length when it came to their duties of hunting for the pack. Maybe Viper was a little more in tune with the pack part but still. It seemed like they followed each other's thinking patterns and it was easy to take down their prey quickly and logically together. Viper would venture to the island, meeting one of Chimera's mastiffs along the way, and she would go forward to fetch him before Viper would make it far into the island. When Chimera joined her, She would only make her way back to the shrine and off into the more eastern lands, not lollygagging around the island and more eager to get their duties done. The monuments were the only source of fresh water for anything to live off of, unless they preferred to eat snow or take a hot drink from the springs. Maybe not too bad of an alternative, but the water always seemed more fresh coming from the river. Viper would go to the falls while prey would probably be venturing through the eastern lands to get their fill in Abaven. The ground had a built in pit where the water used to run. Ice had frozen over what water was left in the freezing temperatures, and so Viper would move to the other side to the empty river, scouting out a good place to dig the pit. If they ran a horse over the river, the horse would most likely jump over the natural pit and not knowing of the new pit, leap into it and hopefully break it's leg in the process. She would walk a distance away, measuring how far they should dig the shallow hole. It would need to be long so if the horse noticed the covered pit, it wouldn't be able to dodge it at the last second. Walk "Talk" Think

In a surprise turn of events, Viper had sought him out for a hunt this time. The woman was so...unobtrusive that she seemed to blend into the background until needed. Chimera liked that about her. He liked it a lot. It made him feel comfortable around her. In fact, he could say without a doubt that Viper was the easiest female to be around other than Siren. He was a little surprised by that realization considering just how much of a misogynist he was. The fact that she didn't speak made him look upon her in a positive light as well. They'd known one another all this time and he'd yet to hear her open her mouth. He was starting to think that she was mute. No complaints there. Uncharacteristically, Chimera was okay with letting Viper take the lead in this hunt. He wasn't sure how long it would last before he had to take the reigns, but for now he would let her call the shots. The pair came to a river and, simply by watching the small fae, he could figure out what her plans were. Carefully, Chimera picked his way across the frozen river and began clearing away snow. It would be difficult to hide such a large, dark hole from whatever their prey might be, but they could make it work. If they couldn't, well they could always hunt the hard way. "Snarl"

Chimera would start his own work and Viper wouldn’t be eyeing him looking for guidance this time. Digging a hole was easy enough, covering it up, she was a big a girl. She wouldn’t go to remove the snow however, instead digging aggressively through the ice surface, into the ground, and then under the layers of ice and dead grasses beneath. As she dug under the first few layers, the dirt and ice crumbled down for her to easily pull out. She dug into the direction of Chimera, at least until they crossed paths. But she would almost insist on taking the final bit of soil out of the pit. As if she could handle the brute of the work. She could after all. Looking at the mess they made, they would have to at least make the dirt level so it wasnt in big brown mounds for the horse to spot easily. They could work on covering it up with snow after. Walk "Talk" Think

Paws worked hard to pull the frozen earth away from itself. Claws dug in to loosen the loamy soil and wide paws scooped it away. So intent was he on his work that he honestly forgot Viper existed. It wasn't until they came into one another's personal space that he glanced her way. It was easy to space out when doing a repetitive, menial task. This was the simple part, anyway. The more difficult part would be running whatever prey the woman chose into the hole. Chi dug down deeper at the end furthest from the river. It would make it easier for their prey to snap a leg if the hole wasn't completely flat at the bottom. If Viper wanted to change that, she very well could. Once satisfied with his bit of work, Chi climbed from the hole and began smoothing out the dirt that they'd excavated. Next would be to cover the dirt with snow so that their prey wouldn't be started by the stark contrast between white snow and dark earth. "Snarl"

Chimera’s thought of the uneven ground wouldn’t be rejected. She didn’t oppose anything he had to offer. Her lack of confidence not on the surface but this was why she watched him for their activities and let Chimera do as he pleased. There would be no objection for what he wanted. She started flattening the ground where they dug up the dirt, pushing a layer of snow and ice overtop along the way. She would again find herself beside Chimera, bumping into him if they were both not careful, where she would glance at his face a moment before continuing, starting to get a dusting of snow into the hole itself. It was hard not to uncover the dirt they had just covered, but it didn’t have to be perfect. The horse shouldn’t expect the pit on the other side, so it should have been an easy break for them. Walk "Talk" Think

As they worked, they bumped into one another and Chimera's ears instinctively flattened against his skull. He didn't like people touching him. Not one bit. It wasn't intentional and Viper didn't make a big deal out of it, so he brushed it off and continued his work. The pair of wolves flattened out the dirt and covered it with snow. It was a little more difficult to dust the bottom of the hole with snow and by the end Chimera gave up on the task. It wouldn't matter anyway. Whatever the ran across the river should fall right into the hole with the pair of wolves and the two dogs running it ragged. Chimera looked at the brown and black woman with his mismatched gaze. He waited for her to make the next move. When she did so, Chi let out a low woof, calling the mastiffs back from whatever they were doing in the trees alongside the river. "Snarl"

With the sign of Chimera’s uncomfortability, Viper noted to be more careful not that she understood the severity of the offense towards him. They had done their best on the pit, and Viper herself wasn’t a perfectionist. She would have preferred a downright natural kill, but in the harsh winter they had to improvise. Prey was scarce and they couldn’t risk letting anything available slide away. Viper would move back over the frozen river, looking to each of Chimera’s mastiffs as they joined them maybe even with a hidden smile. Viper never smiled, ever, at least now a days not that Chimera would really understand that. Perhaps it was a sign that she was enjoying herself. The dogs were keen on picking up the scents of what was nearby as Viper and Chimera were too. And as they drew closer to the horse, Viper would crouch down like a cat ready to pounce. Her nose pointed towards Chimera, waiting for him to show he was ready. And then they would do as they did, and make way for the pit. Walk "Talk" Think

The horse was a big, fat thing. How it became so fat, Chimera had no idea. Other hoofed animals were having a hard time, but there it was: a fat horse. Hopefully that meant it would go down with less of a fight. This would be his first time hunting horse so he didn't really know what to expect. He'd seen them, of course, and he'd observed them a bit as any good hunter should. The young man's pink hued eye watched as the horse kicked away ice and snow with one hoof to get to the grass beneath. Glancing to the side, he noted Viper's pointed look. She was asking if he was ready. Chimera nodded and the corner of his maw lifted in the barest of smiles. Yes... he'd caught hers earlier as well. It was good to know that they were both enjoying this. He was getting more comfortable around the woman each time they ventured out together. It was surprising to say the least. With the affirmation from both wolves, Chimera sprang, clearing the snow drift that he'd been crouched behind. The horse was instantly startled and began to run. They were off to a good start. "Snarl"

Viper would climb up the snow drift that they had been hiding behind, while Chimera was able to actually leap over it. But it wouldn't make Viper fall behind in their pursuit. The four of them would press on, trying to keep up with the horse while it galloped for it's life. Viper knew better than to get near it's legs. But as the speed based chase went on, she was wishing she had picked a donkey rather than a horse. It would have been much slower. But none the less, they could only try their best with what they were doing now. She was at least sure if they had trouble keeping up with it, Chimera would be able to pick up his pace to pounce on the horse and take it down in one go. Otherwise they would be meatless, and that wouldn't do. Viper had appreciated the help of both Chimera and his dog companions. It made their hunts easier with the four of them and Chimera's large size. Viper made up for her size in other things. Just because she was small didn't mean she couldn't hold her own. They would get closer to the empty river where all they had to do was lead the horse to their pit. Walk "Talk" Think

Paws and hooves thundered across the snowy landscape as the wolves and their prey made their way towards the finish line. The dogs hemmed the equine in when it tried to change course and it wet along with their herding. From the very first moment, Chimera knew that the beast was doomed. It was outnumbered and outsmarted. The canine mind was far superior. They were coming up to the river now. Though the snow blinded the young man's sensitive eye, he could see enough to know where they were going. That was his reasoning behind having giant, jet black dogs. Even when his vision was hampered and he had to squint to see, he could always see their dark shapes. Chimera snapped at the horses heels as they came upon the edge of the riverbed. With the discolored pit up ahead, he was trying to distract the beast with a bit of pain so that it would focus on him instead of the hole that would shortly bring about its doom. "Snarl"

The pack made their path straight for the pit, Viper eyeing as Chimera threw snaps at the horse’s heels. She cringed a little to think how badly it would hurt if the four hooved creature made contact with Chimera’s head, a lot worse than the little deer creature that had. They drove the horse over the frozen river, it leaped into the air but you could see it’s body react as it saw what was in front of it. It’s base tensed and it’s legs flailed as it tried to position itself mid-air so it wouldn’t fall into the trap. But it was too late. It’s hooves fell into the pit, a deadly crack to its knees as it made contact. The horse wailed with pain, but even still as if it could fend off the wolves and still live. But that was false hope. Viper moved around to its head, it tried to move around to bite her but she would slam her paws along its cheek and neck, exposing its throat for the taking. Her eyes turned towards Chimera and offered him the kill. Was this something he enjoyed? Her eyes were almost questioning. It was a way she felt way back in her young days and she chose to bury it. She was scared of that side of herself but through her own nature it was easy for her to ignore, though the pleasure of taking a kill still lingered over her each time. If Chimera didn’t want to take the horse’s life, she certainly would. Walk "Talk" Think

Pushing off of the riverbed with its hind legs, the equine soared through the air. It might have been impressive if it hadn't started trying to backpedal in mid air. The beast saw its demise in the form of a hastily dug pit. As it crashed to the earth, there was no mistaking the sickening crack of broken limbs. If anyone had doubted whether or not the bones broke, the screaming wails of the horse told the story. Chimera picked his way to the edge of the hole, taking a moment to catch his breath and rest his legs. The horse wasn't going anywhere. Meg and Gem milled about the hole, ready to act if needed. They wouldn't be needed. This horses day was done. It's number was up. All the wolves had to do was kill it. Chi was a little surprised when Viper offered him the kill. She was right there and she could have taken it easily. As the woman held the horses head back though, Chimera felt... something. What was it? Respect? Slight admiration? Whatever it was, he didn't waste any more time thinking about it. The black, white and slate brute... smiled. Lips curled back, exposing his killing teeth before he took the offered gift. Lunging forward, teeth sank into the throat of the equine, sheering through hide, flesh, vitals. Warm blood surged into his maw and he drank it down greedily. Slowly, the kicking horse stilled and Chi drew back. He'd severed an artery and blood squirted outward, splashing him with the last faint beats of the horses pulse. There was a terribly amused look on his handsome face. This was the most fun he'd had in a while. Would Viper feel the same or would she be horrified at his suddenly pleasant demeanor? "Snarl"

Chimera’s smile made her own smile as he went in and took her offer. Blood pooled in his lips, Viper’s actually more gentle eyes on his tongue as he lapped a clear more menacing grin through his teeth. She almost wanted to reach over and lick some of the thick blood off his chin, but she wouldn’t. Remembering how they had bumped into each other earlier and how he didn’t like that. Her eyes flashed quickly down to the bleeding, dead horse, obvious that the strange feeling crossed her mind. So she would instead indulge in the blood of the horse herself, at least in attempt to show chimera that she felt the same way as he showed. It was a feeling she had never felt before, and she didn’t understand it. She barely understood what the lick to his maw would mean. But if she did understand, she couldn’t compare to her feelings to Jupiter or Hattori. Hattori an authoritative figure she wished to please and Jupiter an old friend that she wanted recognition from. Viper tended to have very neutral feelings towards others and there were only a select few she may have felt the need to impress, or the other, hate. Maybe Chimera was starting to make the list, but she wasn’t entirely sure what made her want to bring her face to his. Maybe she felt he was already impressed by her. Walk "Talk" Think
