Now this was more like it! Rœkia grinned as she saw the steam rising up from the hot springs. They'd only just started their morning travels but this opportunity was too good to pass up and after the hard journey of yesterday the hot springs were just what her muscles needed. "Ok, we're breaking for breakfast. I'm going for a soak, help yourself to the jerky." Rœkia slipped out of her travois and made a beeline for the nearest pool. At first she set her paws in, testing the temperature and she grinned at the warmth. She was about to slide all the way into the pool when she noticed the birds suddenly going quiet. Oh no, that wasn't good. She looked around, ears twitching and that's when she saw a massive man step out of the trees. It was the largest wolf she'd ever seen! Rœkia scrambled to her feet. She hadn't felt so small and vulnerable since she was a pup. She set her defenses as the beast growled at her.

Lukina bounced along after Rœkia. It was a mostly pleasant morning. The winds were still and the sun was starting to rise to offer its warmth to a freezing land. They hadn't gone far when Rœkia decided to stop for breakfast at some strange pools. Lukina eyed the steam rising from them but she wasn't terribly interested in getting in. She wasn't fond of baths and she was glad when her cousin said she could have breakfast and didn't need to be washed. Lukina pulled out the bundle of jerky and started to chew happily on a piece when a giant wolf appeared. Lukina froze. He didn't seem very nice but maybe he was hungry. "You can have some of my breakfast if you're hungry." She said. The man turned to look at her, as if noticing her for the first time, and it was clear he did not understand her words at all.

The dire charged for her and Lukina screamed. The agile pup dove under the travois, just managing to avoid the dire wolf's jaws.
