Ignis had put him in charge of orchestrating a hunt for one of those giant furry elephants that had appeared along with the dire wolves. Tyto of course, while still on the fence about the pack's leadership, was more than happy to oblige with this request, however. Hunting one of these things would surely bring him status in the pack, and if not, at least he could brag about it later. He was at the mouth of the Polar Sound, magenta gaze staring into the valley as he heard the rumblings from the giant creatures as a few of them decided to venture in this way. While he didn't have a direct line of sight to them, they were large and loud enough to know they were there. He knew the Northern lands like the back of his paw, if he could gather enough hunters for this venture, then the task at hand could be simple enough. With a firm nod to himself, he moved a little ways from the mouth of the valley and threw his head back to call for any nearby pack mates or loners that might be interested in joining him. |
Rœkia worked her way through the snow, skirting around the giant creatures that lumbered across the frozen terrain. She was hungry, prey had been scarce and being a lone wolf with a pup to provide for had made it particularly difficult. The creature's paid her little attention and she wouldn't have dreamed of trying to hunt one so she just went on her way. That was, until she heard a howl for hunters. Rœkia paused and glanced around, she didn't see anything else they could possibly hunt around here. Was the caller really intending to hunt these creatures? Well whatever they were hunting if she could get a cut of the meat it would take care of her and Lukina for a few days. Rœkia headed toward the call and arrived to see a man close to her in age. "I can give you a hand in the hunt for a share of the spoils."
Lukina was quiet as the journeyed. She was cold and it took all her focus to move her small body through the snow. She moved in stops and starts. Ever since she'd seen the giant, hairy creatures she just wanted to stop and look at them. Rœkia, however, kept her traveling. To make matters more disappointing, Rœkia hadn't provided any interesting answers to Lukina's questions about the creatures so she eventually fell silent, imagining her own answers. When the call for a hunt rang out Lukina got excited. She was hungry! Scrambling after her cousin she skidded to a halt at the small meeting. "I can help to! I can look out for bad guys!"
Racing across the tundra, he tracked Tyto by scent and footprints until he found the male standing near the mouth of the valley along with a couple of strangers he'd never seen before. "Heh, Hiya! Uh...dad said I could join you on the hunt as long as I listened to everything you say!" A lie! But did he feel bad about it? Not at all. He made himself sound convincing, from tone to body language. If he got in trouble later, so be it. If he succeeded, maybe his dad wouldn't be mad at him at all. He glanced over to the girl who appeared to be about his age. "Hi! I'm Ifrit, are you gonna help too?"
He slowed to a stop next to Infrit just in time to hear his convincing lie and Ciná offered the two adults of the group a charming grin as well, nodding along in agreement. "Yes! We'll do what ever you say, we promise!" Oh they were certainly going to get in trouble, but that made it more fun. As soon as the adults were distracted with someone else he glanced at Infrit with a smirk, nudging his shoulder with a chuckle. When Infrit turned his attention toward the girl that seemed to be close to their age, Ciná did the same with a curious glance. "I'm Ciná," he added in with a friendly grin.
By the time he arrived there was a stranger he wasn't familiar with that had brought a pale, albino pup along with her. The pup reminded him of his aunt and caught him off guard for a moment, though he quickly shook it off to give the two adults of the group a nod. He hadn't thought about his aunt in a while and that a twist of guilt hit his gut that he tried to ignore. He hadn't seen her since he went to inform her of Nolan's death and he had a feeling that she had most likely passed away in that time. He had no way to confirm it since he hadn't gone to Valhalla to check on her, but she had already been in bad health before then.
Shoving those thoughts away, he refocused on the task at hand, giving a doubtful glance toward Ignis' children as they insisted that they had been given permission to be out here and participate. They had run up to the slowly forming group just ahead of him and he somehow highly doubted that his brother would have allowed such a thing, but without Ignis here to confirm such a thing he had no way to disprove it. He gave a small shrug and began to look back toward the pack to see how many more would join them.
A howl rang in the air for a hunt and Sev was quick to jump to her paws. She was tired of the funk she'd been in since the loss of their mother. While she still missed Avalon terribly, she knew that just sitting around moping was not what the woman would have wanted. While she still mourned her, she was intent on keeping herself busy and proving to be a loyal asset to Incendium. Even if the change in alphas was a little strange to her, she didn't think too much of it and was honestly no bothered by it either. After being gone so long she didn't feel as though she had a right to judge anymore. She made her way quickly to the sound and took note of the giant beasts that crashed through the brush and other obstacles like it was nothing. She gave them a wide berth as she approached the group she suspiciously took note of the amount of pups there were in their hunting party. Not intending her thoughts to be mean in the slightest, but she honestly couldn't figure out how they were going to be an asset. She eyed them once more and shrugged before she focused on the adults. Seeing her sister she grinned and came to sit next to her. "Sev at your service." She said with a toothy grin. "I'm definitely ready to hunt one of these beats. Just let me know where you need me." She directed her last statement to Tyto since he was the one who called for the hunt. Walk, "Talk" Think |
Rhae had about had it with giant creatures. First there was the giant bear he and Zo had encountered in the cave and now he'd noticed giant wooly beasts stomping around disturbing the peace. What in the fuck was wrong with this land? Despite the fact he hadn't appreciated the close encounter, he was particularly interested in the tusked elephant-like beats. They looked like, once you got past all that hair, they might be good eating seeing as prey was scarce in the north. Hell, prey was scarce everywhere lately. He heard a howl ring out and despite his better judgement he went to check it out. He came across a rag-tag group ranging from pups to adults. A sneer crossed his features as he took in the pups. If they were all here for a hunt then the pups were in for a rude awakening. They wouldn't be much help at all and would only get in his way. He considered just leaving since it seemed like everyone had taken leave of their senses by not shooing them away, but he decided against it. He didn't play well with others, but he was just hungry enough to stick around and try and bring on of those down. He sat by himself away from the group and glanced at the one who had called them together. They seemed like a pack, but he didn't much care for the politics that came with it. He was just here for the food and the assistance in getting said food. He certainly wouldn't be putting himself in harms way to keep these kids from being trampled. He sincerely hoped that wouldn't be an expectation. Walk, "Talk" Think |
Her broken canine was still a sore spot for her, since they were her best natural weapons. She watched with her half blind eye as Rhae came upon a gathering of... pups. If they intended to hunt one of those massive beasts out here these pups had another thing coming. They were either braindead or dumb to even think on it. Though then again a rumble of her own gut had her considering it. The odds of these kids actually succeeding was low, she bet they weren't at all warriors like the spartans had made her.
She came up to Rhae's side and took a seat watching the others with a judging gaze. She glanced to Rhae before speaking in a whisper to him, "Bet one of these fuck sticks get killed by one of those beasts..... That or they get in our way." A small chuckle was given at the thought before she fell silent once more. She eyed their surroundings and started thinking through her options. If they could get some of them on the beasts back they could in theory spear it safely so long as they kept out of reach of the things face appendage thing. She'd seen one of them using it to grab things like it was a hand of some sort.
She wasn't entire sure what they were hunting, but she had a feeling - based on her observation of the massive pawprints she'd stumbled upon just a few moons ago, as well as the size of the group up ahead - that it'd be an interesting hunt indeed. She had little idea what to expect but she did see a familiar face, and her gaze drifted briefly to Sev. That was something even more interesting; she wasn't sure she'd ever meet her again, but Kiela's curiosity had gotten the best of her. Though tempted to get her attention, her introverted nature won out and she stood near the back of the group. She was uncomfortable in group settings in general and was context to lay low in the background and wait for whatever might be needed of her. All she knew was that, whatever happened, this was about to be fun.

He definitely wasn't ready for the amount of faces that showed up, especially the pups. He turned a critical eye to his alpha's kids, brow raised as he was about to question their arrival. The young pups were confident and sure of themselves, telling him their father gave them permission. While he highly doubted they had permission, he decided it wasn't really his problem when their uncle showed up. Granted, these kids were his younger cousins, he would still help to keep an eye on them and make sure they didn't get hurt, but his focus was more on the hunt ahead. Loners and pack members showed up to join after, and to the loners requesting some of the spoils of the hunt, he nodded. Of course, he wouldn't keep them from taking food should they be successful, they would've earned it after all. Once he was satisfied with the number of wolves that showed up - regardless if they were pup or adult - he jumped right in. "Hello everyone and thanks for coming. Bear with me here, I've never led a hunt for something so big let alone with a group this large. So I don't know what those animals are actually called, but I know they must be related to elephants...as you've all noticed, they're pretty massive and those tusks on their face I'm sure can be pretty dangerous. The idea I have is potentially separating one from its herd, if we can't separate it then we'll just have to heckle them and run them into a narrow part of the Sound. There is a narrow spot further in, and these creatures, from the sound of it, aren't too far in just yet. I have the mind to set up a trip line further in and chasing our target to that, but in the event that doesn't work, does anyone have any suggestions?" His gaze roamed to all the pups then, not quite forgetting they were there. He thought about what their role could be, and all he could think of without putting them too much in harms way was potentially using them to heckle their target as much as possible or distracting the rest of the herd if it wasn't too big...

Rœkia placed a paw on Lukina's back and pushed her into the snow to force her to be quiet. Soon after the wolf that had called the group addressed the crowd. She had no idea what the creatures were but hairy elephants seemed as good a guess as any. Hunting wasn't her specialty so she listened as the man laid out his plan. "What are your thoughts for the trip wire? I'm not sure what to use. Another thought would be sprinkling the area with pieces of sharp rocks or metal that could trip or cause the elephants to stumble. We'd just want to make sure they are large enough for us to avoid." Once they had one on the ground she assumed they'd go for the throat but it was definitely going to be super risky.
Lukina sputtered as she was pushed into the snow. She squirmed out from underneath her cousins paw and sat up as the hunting meeting began. She didn't really know much of what they were talking about, all she knew was she wanted to participate in the hunt. "I can find some good rocks!" She liked looking for rocks and plants and things like that. Lukina glanced up at Rœkia but it was clear the older woman was paying little attention to her so she just flopped down in the snow and waited for the adults to make a decision on what they were going to do hunt wise. She'd follow along no matter what they said.
