She passed further south, her paws driven but still sluggish. She dragged all day and as the stars settled above they still didn't pick up. Her eyes were barely ahead of her, kept on the ground constantly to keep her from stumbling and falling like a clumsy fool. She had her head lowered and even though she was relaxed there was still a tensed submissive and negative air to her. Her mind was her only company, though she wanted for a companion sometimes she knew better than to look for one. They might think her weak and abandon her only moments after meeting her. She paused in her wanderings as she noticed something near her. In the dark and the snow she glanced a deer. They eyed each other for a moment before it darted off. Likely for the best anyway. The fields here seemed so stark and barren, exposed even. But she didn't mind. She turned her face to the moon, full and shining down onto the fresh powder, with clouds drifting near it, threatening to blot out its light and cry more frozen tears. She wasn't sure if she was following stale scents to run away, or maybe to find a piece of what she was missing. All she knew was her entire life had been shattered not long ago by the very man who had watched her birthed and she thought to be dead. Her ruby's glistened with the threat of fresh tears. How many times had she told herself and been told that her family was gone, lost to the volcano she had seen erupt from that den so long ago? She'd lost track. Unsteady legs teetered as the wind threatened to blow her away with it. She was tired, so tired. Just days ago she had thought to throw herself from a cliff side, but she had no courage nor real drive to do so. She let herself lay, tucking her legs under herself and curling in on herself. She wasn't going to sleep anytime soon she knew but she wanted to at least rest for now. Mindless wandering "Hopeless words"
