Hallows diplomacy meeting

After all the traveling they had done he was incredibly grateful that Aerie was just right next door once they finished up their meeting with Aurielle. "Just one more meeting and we can finally head home!" he told Artorias with a grin as they made their way over to the border that separated them from Wolfpaw Lake. All in all, by the time they made it back to the castle, the trip will take them ten days in total and he figured that wasn't too bad. As long as they didn't go over the two weeks he had estimated when he assigned Indigo and Tamsyn to watch the pack then he was satisfied.
He was certainly ready to be back in the castle with Eska and with his children and to be able to sleep in his own bed... Yes, there was certainly plenty to look forward to. He lifted his head to howl for Aerie's alpha, settling himself down onto his haunches to wait. It was afternoon when they arrived so they might just manage to make it back home when they were done here, though it would probably be pretty late by the time they got there. Perhaps that would be worth it though to not have to set up camp anywhere else.

Despite Ulric's disdain for the amount of time they'd spent traveling. Artorias was the polar opposite. The boy reveled in his opportunity to explore Boreas and see more of the world, taking in all the sights from strangely colored woods to vast mountain ranges to northern tundras to deserts to plains, and now they approached a large lake, protected by the boundaries of another pack. This was Aerie, and when he had heard about this pack, it had often been said with distaste on the tongue. He didn't know why, but he assumed he would find out soon enough. "Getting homesick, Ulric?" Artorias teased his mentor with a smirk when Ulric exclaimed how they could start heading home after this. Of course, Artorias was missing his home and his bed and his routines, but he wouldn't have traded this real world experience for anything. In fact, it reinvigorated his drive to go traveling even more so! Ulric howled for the Aerie alpha, and Artorias meandered around the nearby area, inspecting the land while they waited for someone to show up and greet them.

He chuckled at Artorias and gave the boy a playful glare when he teased him about being homesick, though he didn't answer since he knew how true it was. He was more than ready to get back to his children, back to Eska, back to his home. One last stop at a pack and then they could finally get back. He was already planning out a surprise for Eska when they arrived and it only made him that much more eager to return. Some time passed and then a wolf approached them, though from the way they carried themselves he could tell this wasn't the alpha. The wolf informed them that the alpha - Eligos they were told - wasn't there at the moment and asked them to come back later. Well, that was certainly better than the other packs they visited that they had gotten no response at. He nodded and thanked the wolf before turning back to Artorias and giving him a nod to start heading back toward home. Their journey was finally over for now.

Artorias waited patiently with Ulric, surveying the lands and the oddly formed lakes while they waited for someone to respond to their call. At first he thought that perhaps this pack would as be as much a lost cause as the others they'd gone to, but shockingly someone approached. This wolf bore the scent of the pack, but quickly informed them that the alpha, Eligos, was not available. Disappointed but at least grateful to not have been ignored again, Artorias dipped his head in farewell to the wolf once Ulric had started their dismissal and began the long walk home. While still not pleased with how things had turned out, at least Aerie hadn't been nearly as rude as the other packs had been. For now, Artorias was just happy to be heading back home again.
