All this over some berries
Eska

Chasing off those wild dogs should have probably deterred her and sent her back toward the Armada, but she hadn't really gotten any noticeable injuries and the day was still fairly young so she didn't feel the need to turn back just yet. Since the woman she fought them off with was heading back toward Auster as well she figured she might as well take advantage of the traveling companion and go with her across the Bifrost at least. She wouldn't take up too much of Eska's time, but since they were going in the same direction it felt silly to not borrow her as a guide. They made it down to the southern continent without too much more fuss and then found themselves in a grove of trees absolutely packed with berry bushes. She was just taking a look at one of the bushes and considering if she should pick some on her way back to take home to Asla when she heard a rustle and a growl behind her.
Her hackles bristled and she spun to face the intruder, spotting the grizzly bear that was lumbering toward them. She gave Eska a quick glance as she began to back away from the bear that clearly didn't take too kindly to them poking around at the berries that it seemed to think belonged to it. She was about to suggest they run, but the bear didn't really give them a choice. It charged toward her and forced her to jump out of the way to avoid the swipe it made at her with its huge paw, its roar breaking the quiet of the clearing.

After learning that Acantha was headed in the same direction, it was both logical and practical to travel together. The pair of ladies made their way down the land bridge and towards the area where she'd collected the first batch of summer berries for Ulric. Since her hunt had been a bust and the dogs had made off with her deer, it would be nice to bring something back at least. Acantha had gone a little ways ahead but a growl instantly brought Eska's head up. Lucky her... a god damned bear. The same one that had fought her for the berries before? Possibly. It didn't matter anyway. As the beast swiped at the grey fae, the brindled woman moved forward quickly, coming behind the bear to sink her teeth into its heel. She pulled, shaking her head a bit. It wasn't her aim to maim or kill the bear. She simply wanted to scare it off so that they could be on their way. "Eska"

Acantha was grateful for the distraction that Eska provided in the form of a bite to the heel of the attacking bear, making it roar again as it turned its attention around toward the other wolf. It allowed her enough time to regain her footing and leap in to get her own attack in on the bear's hind legs with a loud snarl, hoping to startle it as well as give it some pain as an incentive to get the hell out of their space. She bit hard into it's thigh, digging her teeth in hard till it jerked away from her and took a couple clumsy steps back from them. It was obviously still mad, but she could tell it was starting to second guess if it was worth it. She shifted closer to where Eska was standing as she continued to growl and snarl at the grizzly bear, steadily advancing on it with snapping jaws and lunges to try and scare it off once and for all so that they could keep going on their way.

Back and forth the pair of women went. With each bite, the bear spun, focusing on them. With each spin, they moved the ursine farther and farther away from the berry patch. Eska dove in, snapping her teeth into the opposite heel. She pulled backward and the bear tripped up, falling onto its stomach for a moment. It flailed on the ground for a moment and Eska bit it again before dodging a swinging blow. The woman skittered backwards as the bear rose. The beast threw itself into a run and Eska had no choice but to turn tail and run from it. "Eska"

Acantha bristled as the bear got up and started charging after Eska, the speckled, gray wolf taking off after the bear in return to protect her traveling companion. Long, hard strides quickly brought her up to the bear’s side and she lunged toward its face, snapping her teeth deep into it’s cheek, pulling another pained roar from the bear. It nearly yanked her off of her paws as it skidded to a halt and pulled away from her, but she let go just in time to stumble to a stop and spin to face it again, hackles raised and bloodied teeth pulled back into a snarl as she dared the bear to try anything else.

She heard the pain groan of the bear and slid to a halt before spinning around. Acantha had her teeth in the bears face for a moment before she flew backwards. Eska took the opportunity to rush in and snap her teeth on the little nub of bear tail. The beast dropped its rear end and squeaked. Apparently the tail was a sensitive place. Eska bit a little harder and the bear began to run, pulling her a pace before she let go. Golden eyes watched as the defeated bear burst through the berry bushes and fled. The women had fulfilled their task and came out unscathed. "Eska"
