Shae arrived with her family to the festival and had a chance to scout who her opponents might be, but when names were drawn and her turn came up the girl was pit against her own brother. She didn’t like to be the center of attention, and wouldn’t admit her hope that Poet beat her in this venture. She wanted to see him win the whole tournament actually and if she could aid him in that she would be glad. That didn’t mean she was going to go easy on him. The young Destruction girl grinned at her brother, amused and excited as they were told to begin.

The girl’s dark paws carried her forward, she aimed to slam into her brother's chest and grapple hold of his scruff. He was evenly matched with herself and she couldn’t be certain who would come out winning. Again though, she silently rooted for her brother in her mind.

Poet had never seen so many wolves gathered together in the same place. His dual-colored eyes were wide in wonderment as he drank in the festivities with his family. The thought of the tournament put butterflies in the boy's stomach, but he swallowed and kept them down as best he could. When none other than his sister was called to be his opponent, the boy was all smiles. This would be fun! He wanted to do well, but if it was his sister that defeated him, then it was a good day.

Squaring off against Shae, he could hardly keep his body from shimmying in place. He willed his tail still and faced his sister, waiting for her first move. And suddenly, she sprinted toward him. She aimed for him front and center, and Poet had the sense to sway his weight to the side, paws scrambling to try and completely avoid the charge. It was useless but at least he didn't take on her full charge. His sister's jaws snapped at his neck, but he strained to keep his head away from her. In those moments, he reached out a front leg to sweep hers from under her, wanting to trip her so he would have the upper hand. Simultaneously, the other front paw pushed on her in hopes to push her off balance, making his leg sweep more likely.

Shae wouldn’t let the crowds get to her concentration or focus. They weren’t here, it was just her and Poet. They could have been anywhere in the world and she would have enjoyed her spar with him. Blue and lavender eyes locked with his and the two young wolves attacked. Shae wasn’t in this to hurt her brother, she was even hoping he would win, but she gave her all as they collided, not quite to her aim or satisfaction.

Poet shifted his weight so Shae couldn’t land her attack head on, she snapped her jaws nears his neck but he pulled away so he could stay out of her reach. Before she could really react he was retaliating. He lifted himself back so his paws could do some fancy footwork to her slightly smaller form. She aimed to grasp hold of his arm so as he pushed her Shae would tumble to the ground along with him. She wanted to hold tightly to him and get her jaws around the fur at his cheek while she kicked him like a cat. Giving her all until the end.

His sister was so smart; a surprised yelp managed to squeak past his lips as he fell with her. She had grabbed his front leg and pulled him down with her. He went (un)willingly, a tumble of fur and growls. Shae went right to work and began kicking at him with her back legs and nipping at his face. He pulled up one of his own hind legs up in an attempt to block at least some of her well aimed kicks, which also allowed him to push his body weight against her on the ground, fighting to come out on top. His jaws snapped at any fur he could, though he was honestly aiming for her neck - that was the best place to grab and get someone to yield, so he had been told. He was careful with his teeth though, not wanting to hurt his dear sister.

Shae pulled her brother down with her, both pups tumbled to the ground but the young girl didn’t quite think through the consequences of her movements. All too soon, despite her valiant efforts, Poetry fell over and on top of the dark pelted girl. She cried out as she was trapped beneath his weight and he was grabbing for her scruff. Before she knew it Shae had lost the fight, she’d gone down so her brother could move on.

”I give up!” She squeaked beneath him, wriggling underneath him in the grass as she tried to loosen her similarly sized form. Shae tried to ignore the feeling of shame, and focused on the pride she felt in her brother and his ability. He was just as amazing as she knew he was. ”You won this time Poetry.” She giggled softly as she settled her struggling for just a moment. She reached up to kiss his cheek adding, ”Do Abaven proud.” She would definitely be rooting for him.

Shae's voice caused him to instantly let go, his paws trying to find earth to stand on instead of sister. He took a step or two to give her room, both excited and sad. He was absolutely thrilled he had won, but sad that Shae was now out of the tournament. He knew full well he won by luck alone, and his ears slicked back humbly. "This time," he emphasized with his own giggle, his tail wagging gently behind him. When she reached in to kiss his cheek, he hugged her around her neck, pulling her close. "I'll... I will," he corrected himself before letting her go, a mix of emotions swirling about in his head. He was extremely proud of himself, even if he did win by pure chance. Sadness pulled his excitement down, unhappy that Shae could not advance too. Just a drop a fear rippled through the boy as he turned to face the spectators, looking for the faces of his family.

"You'll cheer for me next time, right?" His words were quiet, meant only for Shae; he didn't want his parents knowing how nervous he truly was. He glanced her way as he stood tall, the corners of his maw curling in a subdued smile.
