Dagrún strode toward the ring for her first match of the tournament. She was eager to test herself against some wolves that weren't her siblings and she was eager to do her mother proud. As far as she knew it was up to her and Ysmir to show what the children of Valkyrie and Chaos could do and she felt a sense of pressure on her shoulders. It would be embarrassing to lose the first round but all she could do was try. She squared off against her opponent, a girl of similar age and size with saber fangs. She looked tough. Well, so be it! Dag wasn't going to show any fear. She set her defenses and looked expectantly at the other girl.

Gossamer had tracked her wayward mother and brother all the way to the Ice Bridge in the north. She'd been intent to go all the way across, despite the weather, despite the creatures, despite the cold that had eventually taken her into unconsciousness. When she awoke it was under a bear hide near a fire. Natha had been tracking her and dragged her all the way back to the Mile-High Woods. She'd been furious, but too weak to rage. They'd had a long and painful talk.

Upon her return to the Armada she'd done her best to avoid everyone. Her grief, her failure, her ascent out of puphood all combined in a bout of teenage angst that had led to her solitary behavior. She'd started her own den and kept to herself as much as possible. She'd quickly discovered that her father had gone to the Hallows and Aslatiel was now in charge of the Armada. Not only that but there were rumors that her older sister was pregnant. Gossamer made it her mission to avoid the older girl. She already got the sense Aslatiel wasn't pleased with her existence and she had no desire to make things worse by getting on the wrong side of a hormonal pregnant woman.

Of course, it wasn't perfect. Aris had found her and Gossamer had been forced to endure the smaller girls snark and vinegar over the way she'd left. It was probably justified but she still felt no regret over what she'd done. Not long after her return there came word of a festival. Boring. And a Wedding. Gross. She wasn't going to go. Then the magical words 'tournament' entered the conversation and she entered immediately. She was eager to fight someone, anyone, as long as they weren't family.

That was how she found herself in the ring against another girl her age with brilliant emerald eyes, a lean frame, and a swagger that just ticked her off. Gossamer set her defenses and glanced to the referee. Her opponent was given the first move.

Dagrún grinned as her opponent prepared for the match. She was so eager to show what she could do and what the Fireside wolves were capable of. She wanted to make her parents proud. Dag kicked off violently, diving right toward Gossamer as she launched her attack. At the last moment she shifted to her right as she sought to slide along Gossamer's left side. Jaws opened as she aimed to bite into Gossamer's thigh just about the knee. At the same time she sought to slam her chest into the other girl's knee, seeking to use her momentum and attack to toppled her opponent and maybe get her on the ground.

Gossamer worked to focus on the fight but it was hard to ignore the pressure she was feeling to do well. She'd failed to find her mother, she failed to find her brother, she couldn't bear to fail again. She needed this win. A moment later the fight started as her opponent charged toward her. Gossamer tensed, legs coiled and as Dagrún slipped to the side she leapt forward to her right, pivoting her hind quarters away from Dagrún. As such she was able to avoid the brunt of the attack though the other girls fangs still clipped her left thigh, leaving light lacerations. As she arced in for her opponent Gossamer sought to bite the other girl's thigh, seeking to get a grip. There was a small voice that warned her that with her fangs this was terribly aggressive but she was so intent to win the fight she didn't care.

Dagrún growled lightly as the other girl arced away from her, leaving her only a glancing blow rather than a significant hold. She wasn't about to let her opponent get away so easily. Dag arced in toward the other girl, the duo forming something of a yin yang. Her swift maneuver brought her thigh out of range but the other girl was just as fast as she was and while Dag avoided being bitten the Armada girls long fangs still nicked her thigh, leaving light lacerations. Dag attempted to put her hind legs beneath her in a powerful leap, seeking to bite into the small of the other girl's back while at the same time hoping to dig in her front set of claws.

Gossamer's own fangs clipped her opponents thigh but didn't give her much satisfaction. They were equally matched in speed and as she arced in after the other girl the fight almost seemed to turn into a game of tag. She snarled angrily. She wanted a fight not a game. Gossamer skidded to slow herself as she shifted her weight onto her front legs and lifted her hind legs. She kicked out violently like a horse, her head looking behind her as she sought to strike her opponent in the head. If she could halt the other's momentum or cause her to falter then maybe she could change the course of this fight.
