He was wandering again, perhaps unwisely as the world he knew was going through a plague, but wandering nevertheless. Paws of denim carried him forth, southward and eastward and as far from his ailing mother as he could get. She had gone positively insane as far as he was concerned, and he honestly wasn't sure that Eris could fix her - or Vereux, or his father, or the number of other infected wolves. It wasn't that he didn't have faith in Eris, but he simply didn't think she was a miracle worker. And it would take a miracle to heal everyone before they died or lost their minds completely. It was a solemn belief, but one that he trusted in wholeheartedly. He couldn't bring himself to travel any farther, and as his pace slowed he came to actually notice the landscape around him. He stood almost in the center of a bed of rock worn away by wind or water or something like that. The rock wasn't unlike the Marble Wash, but was russet in tone - far more earthy. It wasn't as beautiful, in his mind, but it would do. Emerald eyes scanned the landscape, looking for prey or enemies, or just something to look at. His haunch rested on the warm rock as the cool air of winter buffeted his coat. ?speak,? |
