Balthier kept beside his partner to show his adaptability to the stranger. He was much more in tune with his hunting skills than his protective skills. It was what he observed and learned from his father. His father was his idol, but he wasn't focusing on those thoughts now. Not while he was among good company, a festival.

He stalked carefully forward, tracking a deer ahead of them. He looked back to his red companion, he was young but that didn't make Balthier think he was incapable or slower than himself. He was sure the boy also had the same scent of the deer as they moved forward along the plains.
