Ophie felt like she shouldn't be here. This was a place where wolves with talent and promise strutted their stuff, honed their skills to become the best warriors they could be. Ever since her sisters had gently pointed out she might do well to train some more she'd been tossing the idea around in her mind. Weighing the pros and cons, before concluding she might as well give it a try, right? The journey to the battlefield was pretty tiring to be honest, and her limbs already felt like lead by the time her paws pressed against the flat and empty terrain. Her companions lingered nearby, ready to jump into the fray and help her out if need be. Knowing Ophie's skill and form she needed all the help she could get.

She glanced about nervously, wondering whether this was actually a good idea before she tipped her head backwards and let out a call. Ophie made no demands, didn't have the balls too, simply asked if anyone wanted a friendly spar and waited. Hopeful and already a little breathless.

It had become a bit of a routine for him at this point to go looking for fights outside of the pack. He knew he wasn't going to find them there so he might as well go find them elsewhere. He wasn't going to be like certain other wolves in the pack and make claims that he ultimately wouldn't be able to back up. If he was going to claim that he had been working on his fighting skills and was capable at it then he was going to put in the work to back that up. He was only just reaching the edge of the battlefield when he heard a howl calling for someone to spar with and he didn't hesitate to go see who it was. The last couple of wolves he had found out here had been fairly interesting opponents and he was just glad that he didn't have to wait around this time. When he got there though he was slightly confused by what he found. The girl was probably about as old as he was, but was a good bit shorter and utterly round. She looked way too small and soft to be somewhere like a battlefield and for a moment he wondered if this was some kind of joke or perhaps he had mistaken where the call had come from. "You... were looking for a fight?" he questioned a bit uncertainly, eyeing her up for a moment before shrugging his shoulders and starting to get into his usual fighting stance. Well... a fight was a fight he guessed. It was all experience even if it was an unusual one.

Cináed Praetor

Ophie wasn't let alone for long. A stranger soon heeded her call, stepping out onto the open with a coat of smouldering red and charred black. He was tall and looming, about the same height as her older brothers and just as intimidating. She shifted her stance, wondering if she'd made a grave mistake in coming here. He wasn't being outright mean but she saw the look in his eye, knew what it meant since she'd seen it more times than she wanted to think about. She was easy to judge, as though being like this made her lower than low. A vague and tubby outline of a wolf, pathetic in all things. Like she didn't deserve to live.

Forcibly shoving her concerns aside, Ophie steeled herself, If she wanted to get stronger she would have to keep on fighting, even if it meant she might lose.

"Um...yeah!" She offered him a nod and got into position, with her ears tucked and shoulders squared. She might not be a proficient fighter but it wasn't down to her lack of attention or care, she tried her best in all things. Though it often felt like it'd never be enough. "I'm Ophie, thank you for sparring with me!" She nodded again, swift and choppy as though she had to bite back the urge to do it more than once.

She always struggled with making the first move, like she ought to wait for her partner to set things into motion, but since she'd called for him it only made sense she got the ball rolling. Using her hefty weight to her advantage, just as Hikaru had taught her, Ophie thunked in as quick as she could manage and threw all of her weight behind her right shoulder. Being so big and slow her attack was very well telegraphed, leading to Ophie switching it up as she neared her intended impact zone. Aka his centre chest. She shifted her weight to the left side of her frame, hoping to shoulder check him from an angle he hadn't seen coming.

When she confirmed that she was here for a spar he shrugged and finished squaring up with her. Soft and pudgy looking or not a fight was a fight and if she was a willing participant then he wasn't going to just walk away. "Cináed," he replied simply when she introduced herself, feeling obligated to return the favor. He considered just ignoring her and jumping into the fight to get it over with, but saying his name barely took a breath so he didn't mind giving her that much. He wasn't surprised as she started barreling toward him, clearly trying to use her heavier weight to slam into him, but she was slow enough that it was pretty easy to see and anticipate her moves. He started to side step to avoid her attack, but as did that she shifted suddenly to aim her shoulder toward his, shifting the angle enough to barely clip his shoulder and make him stumble slightly, but not really enough to throw him off balance in any way.

Not wasting any time to retaliate, he quickly lunged forward to try and bite her foreleg right under her knee and trying to yank back on the leg to try and topple her over. He also twisted in place and tried to shove his shoulder into hers at the same time to push into her as well at the same time as he pulled. He couldn't imagine that she'd have very good balance given how out of shape she was, but her extra weight probably wasn't going to be very easy to move so he tried to over compensate by throwing all his weight into his shove.

Cináed Praetor

Ophie figured she'd done pretty well with that manoeuvre, maybe not enough to make the Warlord proud but good for her own standards. To her muted disappointment her opponent wasn't sloppy or caught unawares by her sudden switch up and instead reacted whip quick to the change of angle. She didn't know who he was but she'd have to tell him he was a good fighter after this... only if he cared to hear her opinion, of course. Her thoughts were snipped short as he made a snap for her leg, his teeth clamping around the meat of her limb just above the knee. It hurt and she winched, only for her eyes to widen as he twisted and barrelled his shoulder like a ram to knock her off her paws.

She spread her gait as wide as she could manage, considering he was still nomming on her leg it was harder to do than you'd think. Knowing if she didn't meet him in the middle he'd gain the advantage, she raised her shoulder to form a barrier as she made a grab for his muzzle. His head was right there and though his vulnerable parts were mostly tucked away out of reach she figured she might be able to pry him loose with her own teeth tugging at his snout.

Even though he did get a good grip on her leg and he shoved hard into her shoulder as he pulled on the pudgy limb, he still wasn't able to pull her off of her feet or push her over, her extra weight and widened stance keeping her stable enough to evade that portion of his attack. That frustrated him some, but he supposed he had to give credit where credit was due for being able to withstand his efforts the way she was. A quick shift of his golden gaze caught the movement of her head as she reached for his muzzle, her teeth catching the upper portion of his jaw around the top of his muzzle before he could pull away. He growled as he let go of her leg in order to try and pull away, his paw reaching up to bat and claw at her round face to make her let go of him, not really caring if his swatting happened to be near one of her eyes or not.
