Come down, come down sweet reverence

Night had fallen by the time they reached the cavern. Jynn worked her way through the dense vegetation to the mouth of the dark cave. Stalactites grew down rom the mouth of the cave and as the full moon light streamed blue beams of light in she could see them reflecting off a pool of deep blue water. Jynn stalked forward cautiously, gazing down at the pool where she could see a number of dark blue fish swimming beneath the surface. The cave seemed to slope back and she stepped fully into it, starting to work her way around the lake. "Hmmm… I wonder how these fish got in here." She glanced back into the cave wondering if there was some sort of underground water source that brought the fish here.

Álarr followed after Jynn, the moonlight illuminating his coat in such a way that it almost seemed to glow, until he stepped into the dark of the cavern. There was a large pool of water on the cavern floor and a number of fish were there, they swam around and around as the moonlight glinted off their scales. His eyes narrowed. "It's hard to say, it's possible they were carried in with the tide or made their way to this pool during a time of flooding." If it was the earlier they might have a chance to escape. If it was the later the water would eventually evaporate to the point the fish would die.

Jynn edged her way around the pool, pausing to sniff at some lovely stones that lined the way. The moon was glinting off them in all kinds of colors and it was truly beautiful to look at. She wished she had a bag so she could ferret some away but being a nomad she didn't have many places to keep or store items that did not have a direct use. Though it was tempting to see if she could sneak some into Álarr's bag. As she walked farther back she noticed the floor of the cave was sloping back. "If this is from the tide I wonder how far it will come in. This might not be a good place to rest for the night if the water rises while we're asleep."

Álarr stepped carefully around the pool, working the opposite side of Jynn as he used the moon's light to assist him in placing his paws. While the pool looked shallow enough he had no interest sliding into it. Especially with with autumn cooling the air. Frost bite would make quick work of a traveler. The walls of the cave were pretty and he was curious to see what it would look like in daylight but at Jynn's mention of the water levels potential to rise he nodded in agreement. "Yes, let's keep pressing on. There may be better areas to shelter farther south or perhaps to the west." They'd just have to look when they got back outside.

Jynn was curious how far back the cave went and if there was anything interesting further back but she knew they would need to rest soon and without a good plan it was time to keep moving. Jynn carefully turned herself around and headed toward the entrance of the cave. Moments later she stepped out into the moonlight and the hush of night. She gazed south and then west, considering their options. "Maybe we should try west. I don't like the look of those brambles." If she recalled heading straight south from here would land them in a thorny patch and she didn't care to get snagged in that again.

Álarr followed after Jynn though he took his time in getting turned around. He really did not want to travel with wet feet. Once he was outside he followed Jynn's gaze and swiftly agreed with her in going west. He had been to the briar before and had gotten his horns terribly tangled, he'd much prefer to avoid thick and tangled vegetation, especially in the middle of night when it was harder to see where one was going. "Well, after you." She was the navigator after all and had traveled more frequently between Boreas and Auster than he had. Álarr trusted she knew what she was doing.
