Skadi was on the trail of a wounded deer. She'd crossed paths with it in the Range purely by chance and honestly not thought anything of it until the weird way it was moving caught her attention. Deer weren't exactly the sort of thing one took down alone, so had it not been the noticeable hitch in the beast's steps Skadi would have ignored it. Now? Seeing that? Now she needed to know more.
With Skugge and Ivar flying overhead Skadi trotted after the wounded deer. She moved at a slow but steady pace as she was content to make the deer do all the work. It could wear itself out while she tried to come up with a game plan. Even wounded, unless she ran it just about to death, it was unwise for her to take it on alone. That was a good way to get kicked in the head. So what was a hungry girl to do?
She was just about ready to call Skugge down to brainstorm when her brother's scent caught her attention. She brightened visibly. Skadi was willing to bet that if she asked nicely she could get her brother to hunt with her. Hopeful now, she barked for him. It didn't matter if the deer heard her; it already knew she was after it.

Ysmir wasn’t sure he could get Gwyn off his mind, but as he wandered Fireside’s lands. He had a fondness for the range, having spent so much of his childhood getting under feet in the barn and hunting rats to his little heart’s content. He hadn’t grown out of the latter of those, but he didn’t get under anyone’s paws anymore. He had both barenziah and Krah along with him, the little arctic fox at his heels, with winter she had again turned pure white and oh so fluffy. She hated when he clung to her like a stuffed animal at night, but she never pulled away either.
The white gyrfalcon soared high up in the air, she was half scouting for something to hunt. All three of them were feeling restless. Before Barenziah could spot the wounded deer Ysmir’s attention was suddenly called for by Skadi and his own ivory raptor calling out what she had seen. Grinning, Ysmir made his way to where his sister stood, he’d already caught a whiff of the animal and as his dual toned eyes searched the horizon he could very clearly make out its crippled gait. The boy turned his attention back to Skadi, a lift of a brow and tilt of his features as he silently questioned her.

She didn't have to wait long for her brother to crop up. By now he had to have picked up the scent of the deer. By his expression she knew exactly what he was wanting to know. Skadi nodded. Yep, she wanted that deer. That's why she had called. And she had a bit of a plan, too. Ysmir was a lot bigger than her so it made sense for him to bring the deer down. Skadi, being a lightweight, was more the harass and distract type. She could reach all of the vital bits and do her best impression of a hungry mountain lion if she needed to, but she would rather harass and distract, personally.
"It's got a wonky back leg and isn't getting anywhere fast. I'm thinking, I chase it towards you in the tall grass and you pull it down?" Together they could make short work of it. If Ysmir was agreeable Skadi would make a wide loop around the deer and begin to chase it towards the field where the dry grass was long and was likely to offer enough cover to hide her brother tall, dark frame.

Like he had spoken the words Skadi knew what he was asking without a sentence being uttered. Of course the boy figured his sister had a plan far before she called him to her side. He was the back up called when she needed another paw. A big paw. As he suspected Skadi spoke with confidence as she told him her plan, and he couldn’t really argue it. Though he was more keen on just running the beast until it collapsed he would also play the part of ambusher. This would make much quicker work than tiring everyone out.
Ysmir gave a short nod and started loping off into the tall grasses. His head low and his dark body easily snaking through the grass as he waited for Skadi to herd the deer in his direction.
