Briar had broken the news to her that a wolf from the Hallows would be travelling this way to give Lia a healing lesson. Her interest in healing haven grown since coming to the Armada. With the freedom to find a passion she loved and work on it, she found herself delving deeper into herbology. She had professed her profound thanks to the Armada Princess, and had begun to talk about what herbs she was familiar with around the Armada - leading them to where they were now. Pursuing the Weeping Woods for herbs.
“This ons is Marigold, Mistress” she commented. Gently bending back the stalk to show the golden flower to the larger wolf. “Hmm…” she commented, picking it from the earth. “Do you see that, in the center? It’s like it’s glowing. It’s… it’s not supposed to be doing that.”

Briar walked out to the Weeping Woods with Lia, keeping close to her as they ventured just outside of pack lands. It was getting pretty late, the darkness creeping in quickly. It seemed like night came earlier and lasted longer these days as winter progressed, but with how last winter had been she had never really understood the seasons and how they were supposed to be. Either way, she didn't want Lia going out on her own, but she also didn't want to do anything that might discourage her from her studies. She had the passion for healing that Briar had long wished she possessed and she was enjoying watching her handmaiden experience these new things. She was excited to see what she learned from Syanna when The Hallows Seneschal came to visit.
They walked out into the willows and Briar kept an eye on their surroundings, her head tilting slightly as she spotted a cluster of fireflies just past some of the trees. She didn't have time to really watch them though because Lia pointed out some marigold and she turned her attention toward the familiar golden flower. However there was something strange about it and her brows pulled together as Lia pointed it out as well, proving that it wasn't just a trick of the light. "Huh... Yeah, I see it too. Marigolds are one of the few plants I do actually remember and none of them ever glowed like this..." She brought a paw toward the flower, extending a careful claw to pull at some of the petals and she watched as the iridescent glow shimmered and shifted with the movement.

Lia politely gave Briar room as the other wolf bent forward to investigate the flower. Pricking free some petals in a sharp claw. The two of them watched as the flowing shine of the petal coalesced about the falling gold, and hit the ground. The shine seemed to bleed out of the flower after it was picked.
Scrunching up her nose, Lia cautiously sniffed the herb. It still smelled right, but she’d never seen a flower like this before. Lia glanced up at the moon, and found instead a flock of fireflies as they danced in the sky above them. Blocking out her view of the moon. The colors of the glowing bugs were… wrong. Just like the flower was wrong. “So, did the flower affect the fireflies, or the fireflies affect the flower…” she mused out loud. Not sure she should pick these flowers for healing. What if they hurt someone?

Briar watched as one of the petals fell from the flower as she messed with its petals, her head tilting curiously again as she watched the glow it held quickly slide away from the petal itself. So the glow only remained while the flower was intact then... She noticed Lia's attention had shifted away from the plant they were examining and she followed Lia's gaze up toward the sky and she saw the cloud of strange fireflies dancing through the sky above them. They weren't the typical golden light she would have typically expected. Instead they held an odd blue hue to them and it just added to the strangeness of everything she was seeing. She also couldn't remember ever seeing this many fireflies in one place and she saw fireflies pretty often living on the plains.
She chuckled softly when Lia posed the question of if the fireflies effected the flowers or if it was the other way around and she gave a little shake of her head. "I don't think we'd ever figure that out." She looked back down at the flower for a moment and started looking around for more flowers, trying to see if there were more plants that had the same phenomenon happening. Sure enough, as she looked around she spotted more and more plants and flowers that had an iridescent sheen and glow to them and everywhere she looked she could find at least a couple of those odd fireflies. "I don't know what's going on, but... it sure is beautiful, whatever it is."

“Maybe not” Lia said reluctantly, but she wished she had some idea what was going on. She wanted to be able to at least protect Briar medically, if not with the strength of her teeth and paws. Now it seemed even that was in question.
Caught up in the worry and unnaturalness of what was happening, she hadn’t paused to consider that it might actually be beautiful as well. As Briar mentioned it, Lia paused, and smiled up at the other girl. Impulsively, she grabbed a glowing dandelion, leaning down, she blew. The normally white - but this time colourful, glowing seeds exploded around them, their shine growing brighter for a moment, and then dying and winking out. “Your right, My Lady, it is.”

Briar glanced back toward Lia when she saw the movement from the other woman out of the corner of her eye, watching as she picked a dandelion and blew the fluffs it held free. An awed grin pulled across her lips as she watched the glowing fluffs pull a brighter glow for a moment, scattering into the air and rivaling the mysterious fireflies in the way they created points of light all through the air before they started to fade and blink out of existence again. It was all so beautiful and even though she had no idea why any of this was happening she was enjoying it. It reminded her of the glowing beach she had visited with Artorias during one of their last nights together before she and Lia returned to the Armada, but this was even brighter of a glow and spanned a whole range of iridescent hues.
She leaned into Lia's side happily as she looked up and watched the fireflies for a while longer. She supposed their herb hunting trip was a bit derailed for the night, but this was an even better discovery in her book. "I'm glad you were here to share this with," she said, looking at Lia with a smile, her tail wagging gently. She nodded back toward the Armada borders behind them and added, "We should probably be getting back. I wonder if any of this is happening back around the den." She turned to lead the way back toward home then, keeping an eye out for any more of the fireflies along the way.
