Hunter

"Mommmm," Rasha called, peering out into the full moonlit night. "I wanna go hunting more, cant you teach me?" The small pup spun around to give her best puppy dog eyes. "Everyone says something scary is going on, so I need to hurry up."
Rasha spun around and looked out as hard as she could. There! She could just faintly see a small rabbit over in the field. "Like that one! The glowing one!" She looked to her mother, then back. The rabbit wasn't glowing. There were fireflies, however, blue and bumbling nearby. Maybe she got confused? "Uh... well, that one anyway! Can we hunt it, PLEASEEEEE?"

Pestilence peeled open an eye as her daughter thoroughly harassed her - wasn't the whole nighttime-annoyance part of raising a child meant to go away when they hit a certain age? She had been looking forward to getting some serious catch-up shut eye now that Rasha was a yearling, but could not argue that sleep was more exciting then the innocence of a young wolf seeing something for the first time. Something scary, hmm? Pestilence assumed the fog had merely rolled in (or Jupiter had been telling ghost stories again) so at Rasha's persistence, the young mother pulled herself to her paws and gave her body a long stretch.
"Hunting is best done at dawn and dusk." She counseled her sleepily. "Or, I'd expect it to be that way, at least." Not quite the hunter, Pestilence thrived on Fireside's captive livestock and was pleased to focus her attention purely upon battle. "We can go see the scary, just for a little while." She moved out from the den toward where her daughter sat outside, obviously quite excited about whatever she had seen across the range.
As soon as her large head poked out from the den mouth it became very apparent that little Rasha wasn't enthralled by mere fog. Pestilence blinked back the sleep and stepped into the full moon light, glancing about at the dancing blue fireflies that were all the wrong color. She was more then tempted to simply rush the child back to the den, but she was a yearling now - and in Fireside territory to boot - so it should be safe to let her have a poke around. "Okay, little galaxy. Go ahead and try to hunt the rabbit, show me what you know." While never having received formal hunting experience having been so sickly and small, Rasha had instincts... right? Pestilence was definitely just meandering around this motherhood thing and trying to see what stuck. "If you see one that glows though, we can't go after it. They're not supposed to glow, it could be dangerous."

While their mother seemed unsure, Rasha just rolled her eyes. Mom was a grown up, obviously she could hunt, she just didn't WANT to. She said she assumed hunting would be better at dawn of dusk, but Rasha already KNEW that.... Maybe.
Still, her mother encouraged them to show her what they had and Rasha settled into what they assumed was a good sneaky stance. She crouched, tail in the air, and made a big show of shuffling around while her eyes remained fixed on the rabbit. "Well it's not glowing anymore. If it stops glowing can I hunt it then?"
They glanced back to her mother for a moment, then back to the rabbit as if to show it wasn't glowing anymore. But it was. But then it wasn't. Rasha looked to her mother, trying to see if Pestilence was seeing what she was seeing.

Pestilence was still for the most part half awake, moving through the motions of coaching her child while her brain did it's best to snooze in the background. It wasn't until Rasha questioned her once more that her brain finished booting up - stops glowing? The Raidsman moved forward toward where Rasha was excitably bum-wiggling in anticipation towards it, then placed her paw upon the tiny child's shoulder blade to slowly pivot her to face the other direction.
"Wow but look over there!?" She insisted, her discomfort and nervousness at the sight of the glowing creature wrecking her fake enthusiasm. "Fireflies! Wow! So cool, I bet you can't catch one." Pestilence shot a glance back towards the rabbit that glowed in soft bursts, blinking back her bewilderment and trying desperately to redirect her incredibly small yearling onto something she was much, much less likely to catch. The fireflies were still creepy as all fuck and entirely the wrong color, but at least they danced well above Rasha's head and hopefully out of reach.

Rasha was pivoted in another direction and was given a new task... Blue fireflies.
Whatever concerns or worries rested on Pestilence's face were lost on Rasha as the small yearling gathered her feet below her, butt wiggled, and launched herself up at one of the weird blue bugs. Her teeth clicked shut and she came back down empty mawed. No bother! She gathered herself again and launched. Click. And again. Click. And again. Click.
Finally, with one firefly diving low and Rasha hauling her tiny body up as high as she could, she snapped one in between her teeth. She only got one wing and the poor bug thrashed about trying to free itself. Rasha squealed as best as she could to get her mother's attention while not letting go of the bug. Maybe if she ate it, she'd glow too...

This child would most certainly be the death of her. As a ball of spitfire only could, Rasha focused hard upon her new task and began lunging high into the air toward the firefly swarm. With more enthusiasm then Pesto ever thought she could conjure as a yearling, the small galaxy girl leaped over and over again, falling short each time but each time getting back to her paws and giving it another leap. Pestilence had to admire her tenacity, and she sat down on her haunches to 'supervise', turning her head from the girl occasionally to watch the empty area the glowing rabbit had once been.
The bouncing, squealing child played happily - wait, squealing? Pesto returned her attention to her daughter, eyes widening once more as she realized there was a brightly glowing bug in her tiny jaws. "No!" She yelled out, her own voice a near squeak as she stumbled over and lightly thwacked the side of Rasha's muzzle over and over again until she released it. "We do not eat things that glow!" Especially when those things were quite obviously born of the paranormal.

Rasha
In a nearby tree two squirrels begin chittering angrily at each other. At closer inspection, it appears the acorn they are fighting over shimmers a vibrant purple where it catches the light. You also find 2 mushrooms. Maybe these are worth keeping…
