There really wasn't much holding the yearling home now that she was finally back and settled with her mother and siblings. She couldn't help but wonder where her father had ran off to, but didn't want to press her mother or siblings too hard on the matter. They seemed sensitive about it, so she would remain innocent and naive although she really wanted to know.

She thought that if she went out looking every day, maybe she would find him on her own or maybe find some clues and solve the mystery! It was that reason alone that she left the safety of Habari and moved eastward, chasing after those silly fireflies she'd seen last time she wandered out. They were running from her it seemed, the swarm keeping just out of reach the entire time she chased them. Laughter rang out as she chased, finding the bugs to be of no harm and really just pretty to look at.

However, she didn't expect to follow them to a place that would be scary. She hadn't thought a second thought when she barrelled into the crypt, unaware that even a thing existed and was to be feared. As she slid through the narrow doorway, chasing the bugs, the was surprised to find that the room she had entered was now dark and the bugs were not in fact in there, although she had just chased them. She was certain they should be in here, but they weren't and it was pitch black and scary.

Fortune scrambled, fear bubbling over and desperately she sought to escape the room full of bones and darkness. When she finally pulled herself out, she crawled away panting heavily and shaking somewhat from the fear and adrenaline. The bugs had been harmless until now, why would they lead her to such a scary place?

With both his siblings gone from Valhalla - not just off exploring to return, but actually moved out - Fidelias had found himself somewhat at loose ends. He had his mother, who treated him as an adult rather than her child which was nice, but otherwise had no one he'd grown close enough to that he would seek them out. He knew he needed to make more of an effort - though Justice didn't push him on it, she had made it clear that part of being a protector and provider for the pack would mean working together with them and that meant building trust. He wasn't yet at that point though, and with the new odd things cropping up he had no one he was comfortable to turn to for questions. So he set out to find Kaija, who had explored basically everywhere and would likely know something about this, if only to know the extent of it. But he had no idea where to look for her and was striking out blindly so he had decided he would do well to do his own investigating. He had been stalking a bird with glowing tail feathers when the fireflies had suddenly seemed to grow agitated, zipping past him back and forth. He lifted his heavy head with a frown - the bird had been startled away by the tiny lights zooming around anyway - and glanced towards the place they seemed to be zipping to and from. A cave yawned darkly through the scrub brush trying to conceal the entrance, and Fili made his way towards it to see what was causing their agitation. A bat with glowing eyes swooped inside the cave entrance so he followed. It would be a good substitute for the bird he'd been interrupted in catching. With his eyes on the bat, though, he nearly tripped over the smaller girl blending into the darkness - a darkness that he no doubt was equally difficult to see in. She seemed shaken and panting, and Fili lowered his head to her level to peer sidelong at her in concern. "Are you all right?" he asked haltingly. She didn't seem injured to him, though she did seem terrified, and he raised his head again to peer into the depths of the cavern for whatever could have been chasing her, his thick legs shifting into a protective stance.

Why would the fireflies take her to such a scary place!? They were just playing moments before and suddenly that was what they thought of as fun? Fortune sniffled, her fear coming out in a multitude of ways now that she was free from the crypt. She saw bones in there, what were bones doing in there!? Fortune really didn't even want to think about it. Her nerves had started to settle a little bit thankfully, however as soon as a bat came rushing from the mouth of the small cave she shrieked. If that wasn't enough of a fright, when another had came up from behind her and spoke, she jumped nearly a foot off the ground.

The sight of another wolf was welcomed warmly, especially since he didn't seem to have any strange markings that glowed like the fireflies she thought she could call friends. Despite having just added to her fear a moment ago, the young girl was quick to huddle near the larger boy. "I was playing with the fireflies, then they led me in there! I thought they were my friends, but there's bones in there!" She exclaimed, peering at the mouth of the crypt before turning away and hiding her face from the scary place.

The girl practically flung herself at him to huddle close and nearly sent Fidelias crawling out of his skin at the sudden close proximity. He had to set his jaw as he shuddered, to force himself not to jerk away, and instead slowly eased away a step. "Bones?" he asked, finally registering what she'd said. "Were they fresh bones, or old bones?" If they were fresh, and the fireflies were going there and she'd followed them, maybe they ate flesh? Some butterflies would eat things like that, he'd noticed. Maybe these new fireflies were omnivorous as well. His brow did furrow though, at her semi-hysterical words about thinking the fireflies were her friends and following them, and he gave her a sidelong glance, not meeting her gaze but in her general direction. She seemed like she was at least close to the same age he was, and while he knew he wasn't really... normal, compared to the other young wolves in Valhalla, he thought that she was perhaps a bit odd. Compared to them, that is. He looked back towards the crypt she'd said the fireflies had led her to, and sure enough they were dancing around the entrance again. That bat was in there too, and he wanted to investigate the room with the bones to see if the fireflies really were omnivorous, but the girl seemed pretty shaken up for some reason and he didn't know what to do with her. "Listen," he said awkwardly, "I'm going to go check it out and see what they're doing in there. Do you want to stay here?" If she thought the fireflies were her friends, maybe she'd be more comfortable staying out here with them so he could see what the ones in the crypt were doing.

When he started asking questions about the bones, whether they were fresh or not, she started shaking her head almost frantically. How was she supposed to know? She didn't stick around long enough to find out and certainly didn't want to poke her head back in for a second look. If he was so curious, he should check. It was almost as soon as she thought it, he stuck his head in the fucking hole before saying he was going to go in an asked if she wanted to stay behind. Well, to be honest, she didn't really want to be out here alone either. Finally someone had come along and she thought she would be safe, protected from the now-deemed-evil fireflies, and would be led safely back home by this brave young man.

But, why was she surprised? Like every other boy he wanted to go and get dirty, investigate some spooky shit, and leave a poor girl out scared in the dirt alone. How heroic was that? Fortune scowled up at the larger boy, refusing to be left behind even if it meant going back into the nope room. "Alone in the dark, with those mean bugs everywhere? No, thank you," she scoffed, rising to her white gloved paws. Hopefully he took the hint to escort her home like a fine gentleman, but something told her she'd be getting pulled into the crypt before she'd be getting taken home.

The girl popped up to her feet, frowning at him for some reason he couldn't fathom. He shrugged one shoulder awkwardly. "Ok, sure, you can come with me then?" He didn't really wait for a reply, turning and stumping his way into the crypt and figuring if she really wanted to come along she would. She did seem worried about the fireflies though, so he paused and said over his shoulder without quite looking at her. "Uhm, if it makes you feel better, I don't think those are really bugs or anything. I think they're just lights. Doesn't seem like there's anything else there. But I don't know. I just want to see if there are bones because they eat meat? You know? And bats don't hurt wolves so you don't have anything to worry about him." It seemed like that all should make her feel better about venturing back into someplace that obviously scared her. After all, she couldn't be scared about the bones themselves, could she be? There were bones in everything she ate, she had to see them all the time, right?

A group of fireflies dances nearby, as if urging you to follow them. You also find 3 crystals. Maybe these are worth keeping…

A nightingale sings sweetly in a tree nearby. His feathers seem to glow softly. You also find 4 mushrooms. Maybe these are worth keeping…
