With the end of winter in sight, Emersyn had decided that the band would remain around the south of Boreas for now. Auster would be pushing into its fall, so perhaps they would venture down there to see some of the remnants of the warm weather, then return to Boreas in time for the summer. Her goals were to keep the band moving from continent to continent depending on where plants were the lushest and most vibrant. If they were going to return to their roots and be a roving group of healers and medics, they would need to keep a steady stream of supplies on hand. Plus Emersyn just hated the cold if she was being totally honest.

She'd led the band down to the snow-covered prairie, already beginning to see the powdery snow thinning out in places to reveal dry, hibernating grasses. Soon spring would return, and with it the liveliness of the prairie. Here there would be plenty of food, and they were close enough to Fern Gulley to gather whatever plants they needed. Yes, this would be a good launching spot for the rebirth of the Nomads. Emersyn called for Segin to her—the small purple brute her de facto second-in-command—to relay her plans to him and find suitable living spaces for everyone.

After Emersyn pulled the band back together he had stuck closer to the band than ever. For a while there he was wondering why they had left The Hallows to begin with since they hadn't actually been doing any of the things they had set out to do, but he was too dedicated to this little misfit, purple family of his to go do anything else. Emersyn pulling them back together renewed some of his hope and he hoped maybe this would help them turn over a new leaf and get back on track. He didn't know exactly where his part of the puzzle was just yet, but he was helping where he could and trying to keep everyone's spirits up as well. It wasn't exactly an easy task considering the state Indigo was still in and the fact that Duchess was just pulling away from them more and more, but he did his best. He was working on going through a few of the things in their supplies and reorganizing them when he heard Emersyn call for him, making his head pop up and his ears perk. They had been traveling for a couple days looking for a new spot to settle so maybe she had come to some sort of decision.

He quickly put away a couple stacks of herbs and trotted away to where Emersyn was waiting, giving the taller, dusty violet woman a grin. "Hello, my fearless leader," he joked with a chuckle, reaching up to give her cheek an affectionate lick. He had a certain soft spot in his heart for all of the members of the band in one way or another, but Emersyn had a very large part of his heart right next to Indigo. "What's on your mind today?" he asked, coming to sit next to her and lean into her side, glancing around the prairie that was already beginning to show the signs of the spring that was just around the corner.

Segin arrived quickly after she had called for him, and Emersyn greeted him with an affectionate smile and gentle lick to his forehead. Her affections for the smaller violet and black brute were no secret, and no wolf in the band had impacted her life quite like Segin had, not even Indigo. Well, Indigo had, but not in ways that were all positive or healthy. Segin was just entirely too good and wholesome and loving for this cruel, sinful world. He licked her cheek, addressed her in a way that made her scoff and roll her eyes with a smirk, then asked what was on her mind. "I've been trying to decide on how to get our family back on track," she explained. "When we came together, Indigo had the dream of us being a traveling band of healers and medics. I think we've strayed too far from that vision and we've lost sight of what we wanted to be."

Emersyn gestured out across the prairie, to the sparsely snow-covered land with herds of animals beginning to emerge as spring drew ever closer. "I was thinking we could spend the first half of spring here. Food will be plentiful, and we'll be close enough to Fern Gulley that we can stockpile some healing herbs. I thought that we'd spend spring and summer in Boreas, and autumn and winter in Auster. Rotate out our travels so we're always pursuing sunny days and warm weather." Cobalt and aqua eyes turned down to glance thoughtfully at Segin. His input was invaluable to her, so of course she would want to know his take on her plans. "Thoughts, Mister Second-in-Command?" she asked.

Segin listened attentively as Emersyn explained how she was trying to figure out how to get the band back on track. He nodded in approval, knowing that they had to do something to make this band worth having if they were going to keep it going. He did love the idea of them being the healers and medics they had set out to be and he certainly hoped they could get back to that. The only thing that made that slightly difficult was that he and Indigo were the band's main healers, but with Indigo out of commission for the time being that left him as their only real healer and he was still in training as far as he was concerned. Even still, he was willing to put in as much work as it took to make it happen as long as Emersyn wished it to be so. If she could do something as important as stepping up to be their leader then he could be their lead healer as well. Together they could make this work.

He looked across the prairie as she gestured to it, listening to her suggestion of staying here for the first half of spring and how they would move around to follow the warmer weather. That most certainly appealed to him! He hated the colder weather and lamented the fact that they weren't in Auster for all of this past winter anyway. Plus, the benefit of being wherever herbs were currently growing would be a great benefit for them if they really wanted to focus on being healers and medics. At her addressing him as her second in command he grinned and looked up at her with a chuckle. He didn't feel like he could be in command of anything, but if supporting her made him her second by default then he'd gladly be just that. "That sounds like a fabulous plan to me, beautiful," he replied, reaching up to give her a little kiss on her lips.
