After some time to consider Chimera's offer, he had finally come with an answer, and all he needed was to speak to the Aegis. Just to let him know of his move to a nearby pack. He held no high expectative with the place he would call home now, but all he knew was that he could still do what he always did but in a change of scenario, one that even he wouldn't openly confess it, was very needed for the warrior. The morning was young, and he guessed he could have a short talk with the leader, and with all the respect known of him he would call, for an audience with the Aegis Artorias. Son to Resin and someone he respected. No fear, no shyness, his posture was confident with his blank expression in place, ready to go straight to the point. |

Although still very much in the process of recovery, Artorias had resumed his place and duties as Aegis, watching over the pack and securing the castle from the madness plaguing the lands. He didn't know if things were getting better or worse, but he did know that changes were coming in the air. The world would never be the same if they survived this apocalypse—and right now that was a pretty big if. Artorias was in the middle of his morning meditation (if you could call the everlasting night "morning") when Dunkan's call came out for him. Black ears flicked up and amber eyes opened with a deep breath. The first instinct he had was immediately worrying if his wolf was okay or had been harmed by the Long Night somehow. The second instinct came when Artorias made his way from the castle gardens to where Dunkan waited for him, and he had a feeling he knew what conversation was about to take place.
"Good morning, Dunkan," he greeted his knight with a tip of his head. Artorias' paws carried him to sit before the older yet smaller wolf, regarding him with warm but curious eyes. "You look like you have something on your mind." There was no need to beat around the bush. Dunkan had always been a succinct wolf and he appreciated that about the man. Whatever Dunkan wanted to say, he would say, and their business would be conducted quickly.

Dunkan waited with all the patience he was well known for, someone who could wait and dont feel stressed about it. He wasnt the same fool who wanted to get everything done before others, as a pup he was like that. But as he got older, he growth a more patient, wise way to wait for things. Besides, Artorias wasn't obliged to come right away. The wind blew through the walls, through the windows, as spring settled into Auster, with a fresh breeze that carried the flowers' smell. Eyes lacked emotion, cold and distant as he stared at the nothing, allowing his mind to wander a bit. But the Aegis came soon enough, bringing the Sarcova back to the realty. He gave a bow in respect to the young leader. "Aegis. I hope you are well." Courteous, polite as much as he could. "I am summoning you to share with you my desire to live with King Chimera for sometime." He began but not done yet. "I would like to thank you, the Hallows has been my home since I was one year of age. Your mother Resin raised me since I was a young pup, and I swore her loyalty and had served her cause willingly to give my life for it, she was a mother to me and what she had build here is to live forever, and you i am sure you will keep your mothers legacy. But I believe I am not needed here anymore, you got capable warriors better suited than myself, and its time for me to give room for the new generations to bring peace to your home. I am in debt with you and even if I leave, I will always come upon being called, ill fight for you all and do whatever is in my power to help. But I wanted to tell you where I was going first." He finished for now. |

As he had expected, Dunkan was all formality and business. He'd learned by now that the older male's terse personality was just a part of who he was, not necessarily reflecting his personal thoughts on anyone. Before the Hallowed wolf could express his reason for summoning him, Artorias knew what this meeting would be about. He could see the emptiness in Duncan's eyes, the lack of any sort of emotion or life. It made the young alpha frown to think one of his wolves was unhappy. Then Dunkan stated his desire: he wished to leave the Hallows in favor of Fenmyre. That did surprise Artorias more than a bit, and the shock reflected on his expression. Dunkan, the austere and reserved warrior of the Hallows, wanted to go live over in the rowdy pleasure-den of Fenmyre?
Dunkan wasn't finished though, and the man continued on to thank him for allowing the Hallows to be his home, explaining how he no longer felt needed as Artorias forged his own leadership to keep his mother's legacy alive. Artorias was touched that Dunkan saw him as worthy to continue on the legacy of the Hallows; that sincere compliment meant more to the lad than he'd ever know. The dark-furred brute waited until his pack mate—er, former pack mate—had said his piece before adding his own thoughts to their conversation. He started with a simple smile that exuded the warmth he felt for his wolves, then lifted a paw and went to place it upon Dunkan's shoulder. "There are no debts between family, Dunkan. You have been a staple of the Hallows since its inception. I've known you all my life. No matter where you go, you will always be a part of my family, and you will always have a place here in the Hallows." More than anything, that was what Artorias wanted the older wolf to know. He was family here and always would be. Should he ever wish to return, the gates of the Hallows would always be open to him.
Then Artorias' expression saddened some. "Your absence will be felt. Even if you feel you're no longer needed, we'll all feel your loss. But I know Chimera, and I know his pack needs capable warriors. Your talents will be put to good use over there." The Aegis gave a curt nod of his head, and though it hurt his heart, he agreed to let Dunkan go. "Dunkan Sarcova, you have my permission to go where you wish. Just promise me you'll never forget your way home should you ever need us for anything. Fenmyre is a close friend, I'm sure we'll still be seeing each other." Even if Dunkan was no longer a Hallows wolf, Fenmyre was basically their ally. He'd be living under the rule of another on the other side of the continent, but for the most part, nothing about their relationship would change. Plus, he could see the man needed a change of scenery, a new direction in his life, a purpose.
