Spirits returning home

Naiche was in the land of the living with no idea of why or what to do with himself. Oddly he’d shown up first on an island he never visited before and had met Siren. He had only met her once for a few moments before so both in wolf and location there was no familiarity to explain the location. Naiche had no idea where Asla and his child would be nor any idea if he should be searching for them. He didn’t even know how long he’d be left in this world. As he walked the land alone he couldn’t keep back the thought of how he didn’t belong and a feeling he really shouldn’t be there. A natural balance was being broken with ghosts walking amongst the living. Naiche eventually found himself at the boundary line of the armada land. Ghosts knew no boundaries and even if they did the pack would never deny his presence, Naiche knew that much. Had he come here because he wanted to or had something pulled him here? He had met with Satira and Sirius before in Somnium but this was different. Did others pull you to them here as well? Regardless, Naiche had nothing to do but roam the land until called away. He might as well set foot on his old home. With the first step of his paw across their border, the wolf felt it both just felt right and wrong in the same moment. It was night now, but it had been night since Naiche had left Somnium so who knew what schedule other wolves were on. The golden-hued wolf's steps were quiet as they moved across the ground yet he was solid as the grass moved as his feet moved across it. "Naiche"

The Warlord it seemed was not done yet with surprises. He caught sight of the yellow-gold wolf roaming across the grasses. He blinked, doing a double take. Hadn't he just been thinking of Naiche, and Asla, and his grandkids? And now Naiche appeared… like a ghost, but with far too much substance, over his lands.
He frowned, but inside there was a lifting of his heart. He had already seen Resin, who had come to him and offered gentle reassurances. Now Naiche had returned as well? If only it was periminant. But Resin had already shown him it was not. “Naiche, you restless old ghost. If you're going to have this much trouble staying away, you should have reconsidered dying.” he mused gently to his old comrade.

So, it would be Sirius, warlord of the armada, and grandfather to his child who spotted him first. Glancing towards the considerably larger wolf Naiche made his way over to him. “Old? How insulting,” the words stated dryly. “I don’t look a day over dead.” Naiche smirked with a hint of amusement in the eye. “I always did like roaming,” another glib statement before adding on more somberly, “I have no idea what's caused this. Nice as it would be to just to see family and friends this isn’t right. Any idea what's causing the strangeness across the landscape, or why I can feel the earth beneath my paws?” He’d even felt his heartbeat, just once but never before had he noticed his heart so much. “My child shouldn’t grow up in a world only made of darkness,” the last part whispered softly before thinking about it and adding on a question, “Any chance this is because of the firefly man?” It was the only thing Naiche had ever met that wasn’t normal until now. The figure had been strange in shape and potentially in its abilities. The home had been too weird and his form abnormal. If anyone could be ‘not of this world’ or do things impossible Naiche would label it on him. "Naiche"

vAll it took was raising his voice, and Naiche moved easily towards him. He looked as solid as Resin did. He fought the urge to reach out and pull the other wolf into an embrace. First, he had to give him grief for leaving in the first place. Looking at Naiche… it was like seeing an old friend returned after a long journey. He fought to remind himself this was only a temporary thing. “A day over dead? You’ve been dead and gone 5 years now, old man.” He said it without so much as a blink to give himself away.
Then, he grinned, reaching over and grabbing Naiche. Pulling him into an embrace. “It was only last season you came to my dreams. He explained. As for Naiche’s questions… “Truly, I can’t say. I only hope there will be a sun again. My youngest grandchildren have never felt its warmth.” he whispered.

Siren hadn’t looked all that old when he met her recently though she had been very young when they first met. Sirius was old, he was, Naiche wasn’t sure how old Sirius was actually. Naiche was staring at Sirius deciding if the wolf was being honest we said five years. What had his son grown into in that time if so? Naiche hadn’t expected to be pulled into an embrace but he certainly found himself in one. It was a strange feeling. Naiche smiled faintly into the black wolf’s fur, snorting as the tease was made clear. So all of the changes were truly made in just a period of one season. Naiche really had died too early but all it took was the memory of his last day to know if repeated he would have done the same thing. A poor time to die but no better reason. After a few seconds he would gently pull away, it would be odd having a conversation while being embraced. “More grandkids? Congratulations.”It was a sincere statement even if simple. He almost asked who they were from but then decided to skip the details unless Sirius chose to present them, “They need to see the light, as does my son. I’ll head to the cave where I met that strange individual. The dead shouldn’t try to play alive and join up with packs and make future goals but, no reason I can’t go for the long odds and see if that man still lives in the cave and if he has an answer.” Last time the creature had wanted a gift to allow Naiche to leave, if the being could do anything about this crisis what would it want? Naiche had nothing to give but his spirit. He could do that if it helped all the future generations. “Do you have any hints learned so far to go off of?” It was definitely Naiche, all work. The tan wolf seemed to think of that himself a moment later, flicking a ghost of a smile at Sirius, “Not to say hi and bye right away. It is good to see you.” In death, in somnium, Naiche had been at peace with no sense of responsibilities but now, even if he was dead he felt them again. So long as he could roam the land there was no real piece that came with death. "Naiche"

Naiche took the jest well, as Sirius suspected he might. He smiled fondly at the other wolf as he pulled away. Settling in across from the Warlord. “Thank you. If I live out the rest of my days covered in grand and great grandbabies, I will be a very happy old man.” he admitted.
He was however surprised to hear that Naiche might have a lead. He blinked at the green boy, and then gave a brisk nod. “Do it. Any information we can get will help.” he agreed. He shook his head at the question. ‘It’s the most bizarre thing I've seen in all my seven years, and I’ve seen some very strange things.” he nodded his head to his young friend. “As it's good to see you, Naiche. You are always welcome here, living or dead.” as strange a statement as that was…

The one fun thing about being dead was the only responsibilities were those Naiche set upon himself. A small grin came as Sirius informed him to do it also. It didn’t matter since the two were in agreement. Ahhah! Sirius was seven years old. It really didn’t matter but since he had just wondered there was the answer. “As sure as the sun is meant to rise I know I’m not supposed to be here. No dead should walk on the land.” A pause at the thought and another focused gaze on Sirius, “are there any others like me? Have you met or heard of other dead coming back?” It was a solid question. Was Naiche an oddity or just one of many? He didn’t even know which he’d rather hear. Good to see him alive or dead, eh? It was certainly a comment Naiche never expected to hear in his lifetime but, did this even count as a lifetime? “I have no idea how long I’ll be like this. Maybe I will or maybe I won’t make it there and the same to returning with information." Naiche stretched, then shook out his coat. He didn’t really need to, it just felt good in a strange way. “I’ll do my best, and perhaps if not on the land then however somnium works, perhaps I’ll find my way to you there for an update.” Hell if Naiche really knew how. Naiche took a step as if already planning to leave when a thought occurred, “Sirius, take good care of those grandkids.” It was a pointless statement, he knew Sirius would do so. “Keep the future alive and the armada strong. If I should ever see you again, I bet there is nothing worse than a pissed off ghost.” It sounded good whether or not there was any merit "Naiche"

“Resin. She came to me not too long ago.” he touched the gold that stained his paw. A gesture he already knew was going to become familiar to him. He wondered if he would ever see her again? He had invited her into her dreams, but only time would tell if she would have the power to do so. If there was anything Sirius believed now, however, it was the will of those that he loved. Dead or alive.
”I know you’ll do your best, and that you’ll find a way to get that information to me if you can.” He agreed. He watch das the wolf took a step as if to leave, and then paused. The Warlord grinned at the familiar form of his friend. “I don’t doubt it” he agreed, knowing Naiche already knew he would do exactly that. “Hey, green boy. Your mine, life or death. Mine, my family.” He said, and grinned again, raising a gold-tipped paw in farwell. Wishing, wishing that whatever allowed the dead to remain would continue on. It was just the rest of it he wanted gone.

Naiche missed the importance of the gesture but the information certainly caught his attention. Resin. Naiche smiled slightly remembering her. He couldn’t say they had been friends but he had respected the older wolf. She had been the one who introduced Naiche to Asla. The small smile turned to a grin at some personal thoughts. He had really hated Asla back then. She’d kissed him after that first spar. Memories were all there and he had to shake his head to clear them. One thought can certainly trigger more… Naiche continued to walk away, glad he had pleasant memories to keep him company. Then Sirius spoke out and Naiche looked back, crooking a brow, “Green Boy huh?” That was a nickname Sirius hadn’t used on him before. The smile faded for something more somber, “You know, I wished my dad had said that to me. 'Mine' He just said goodbye.” A slow shake of his head, “You probably never knew it, but I enjoyed hearing it each time.” That was it Naiche would continue walking unless stopped. As he had said he didn’t belong in this land so he would search for how to make things normal. He didn’t actually agree with still being Sirius’ but that certainly wasn’t going to be debated. Connections were cut in death, they had to be. Everything was wrong and forming connections again would only make things worse. Naiche belonged to no one now, perhaps to the ground or to a spirit plain but to no one among the living. Still, it had been nice seeing Sirius, it was nice hearing of Resin and having good memories to take with him. It would be a bit of a hike to the firefly’s lake. "Naiche"
