Misery had stayed away from the Habari for a while now.  He’d had to get the scent of his own pack off of him.   Time away along with rolling in some different scented parts of landscape followed by some bathing until eventually, Misery could no longer scent his own pack on his coat.  The black and silver wolf had then spent another day or two watching a short way from their border, waiting for inspiration on how best to get in.  Patience was an important tool in a good spy.

Admittedly, after a bit, he had grown bored but finally, he felt rewarded when he spotted a younger female leaving their land.  That would be his inspiration!  Misery grinned to himself and remained hidden.  The boy didn’t run up after her right away and looked like a fool clearly hiding. He had waited for her to move farther past the boundary of her pack before taking a different wider route slinking partway down the falls.  Perhaps he was being overly cautious but that was better than reckless.

Once Misery was far enough away he started moving across towards her.  He didn’t make a specific straight to her, focusing on the ground instead.  He sniffed at some of the watery pools, skipped through a few to cause soft splashes.  Long story short he wanted her to notice him first without his charging right up to Shae.  Hopefully, she was the friendly social sort, they were the easiest to manipulate.  It was good there was plenty of naïve and trusting wolves out there, it meant fun targets to toy with for the small male.

Losing her grandfather had been quite the earth shattering moment. Everyone said how he lived such a long life but was Shae selfish to have asked for more? Everything was weird after he died, and after the cursed dark lifted. Her was changing the pack at a fundamental level, her mother was distraught from Rhyme’s death and Shae was still getting used to having her father back in her life.

She wanted some time alone so the girl left Abaven to wander down towards the falls. She was distracted as dark paws meandered towards the water. A couple of times, while her mind was on her grandfather, she thought she saw him moving amongst the trees. Every time she focused though she couldn’t see anything there.

Shae made her way to the falls, not feeling motivated enough to climb to the top. She sighed softly as her blue and lavender eyes watched the cascading waters before her. Before she made herself comfortable though the sound of someone trudging through water contrasted the steady sound of the falls. Shae’s attention was brought to a boy further down stream. He looked about her age, but vastly shorter.

The girl wasn’t so sure she wanted to be social, not with everything weighing heavily on her heart, but he looked like he was searching for something so she couldn’t help but speak up. ”Are you looking for something?” Shae asked uncertainly. The girl was pure to her core, but reserved and shy and those traits sowed blatantly in her voice and her demeanor.
