_________________________________________________________________ Something in her bones was telling her that life was going to be changing for the better. Now that she and Tika were growing up and starting to settle down, Audra began to itch on the inside. It had been a dream of hers for a while now that she wanted to see all of Boreas and even Auster. Feeling as if she was running out of time, she made her way a bit farther from the ridge of fossils to a beach she had yet to visit. From her place on the hill, she could see down to the normal-appearing beach. Shifting sands littered with seashells and crabs were nothing unusual. It was the water that she was most interested in. After listening quietly in the background to many a conversation, she had heard someone mention the shallows here lit up at night. While the sun faded behind her, the petite russeted wolf carried herself down the beach with her herb bag thumping against her chest. Curious and excited to see if the rumor was true, Audra drew closer to the washing waters along the shore. _________________________________________________________________ A U D R A

It had been quite a bit of time since Syanna had felt this happy—truly happy. She'd made great headway into her medical practices with the Hallows, Ezra had returned home after his stint in Fenmyre, and the world just felt joyful and alive! Humming a gentle tune to herself, the vixen-furred lady's cream paws carried her down the dirt path from the castle towards the sands that sparkled in the fading evening light. A gentle drizzle had started over Auster, a normalcy in the southern continent's winter season, but it didn't bother her in the least. The world darkened with the coming night, but this was the perfect time for her to go harvesting seaweed to use for water-resistant bandaging. The way the sands lit up at night made it easy to spot the vegetation washed up on the shoals.
No sooner had she rounded onto the beach, Syanna saw another wolf venturing out onto the sands. She recognized the wolf from around the Hallows, but hadn't actually met with the woman yet. She had seen her helping mend the fighters after the raid though, so she knew she was a healer. "Coming for an evening stroll on the beach too?" Syanna called above the rolling waves on the shore, greeting the other woman with a dazzling smile. She made her way across the soft glittering sands to a pile of seaweed strewn across the beach, scooping it up to stow in her herb satchel. "The beach is quite a sight at night!"

_________________________________________________________________ As her nose sniffed at the foaming caps, the sound of another set of paws upon dense sand caught her attention. Lifting her head to turn over her left shoulder so that her good eye could get a look, Audra smiled softly at the girl in return for the brilliant one she received. The fiery-orange pelt upon the girl was familiar to that of the Hallows and the scent that drifted from her confirmed it. At least, she would be in good company tonight. "I-I've heard t-tales of h-how it lights u-up at night. W-wanted to s-see for myself," the nervous tone to her chiming voice was normal for her, but perhaps odd to others. It happened naturally and nothing she could avoid until she warmed up to them. "I'm Audra, b-by the way, since we h-haven't formally met," she adds one with a slightly bigger smile. While Audra noticed the girl scooping up seaweed into her own pouch, she took a mental note that she should grab some herself. Turning her attention back to the rolling waves, her golden eye began to notice how shimmers of luminescence began streaking over the surface. Beyond the horizon, the sun had finally set and they were clouded into a starry sheen without a cloud in sight. Curious, the petite russeted girl stuck out a paw to dip into the waves. As it broke the surface and she swished it around, she watched as the invisible bacteria came to life in a blue glow. _________________________________________________________________ A U D R A

The other Hallowed wolf looked up and returned her smile when Syanna greeted her. She spoke with a stutter that Syanna found endearing and followed the smaller woman's eyes out over the sea just as the sun finished its descent, allowing for the bioluminescent bacteria and algae to appear beneath the glow of the moon and stars. The entire shoreline seemed to be cast in a beautiful pale blue glow, and beneath them, the golden sands continued to shimmer and sparkle as if made of diamonds. "You're in for a treat then! It's really quite spectacular," Syanna commented with a giggle while she continued to gather up her beached seaweed. Emerald green eyes lifted back to the wolf who introduced herself as Audra. "Pleased to meet you, Audra. I'm Syanna."
With their introductions given, Syanna watched while Audra moved closer to the surf and waded into the water, her eyes fixated on the glowing blue microorganisms in the water. Smirking, Syanna strode over to join her in the shallows, the waves gently lapping around their ankles. "Wanna see something cool?" Grinning to the russet lady, Syanna swirled her paw around in the patches of bacteria, stirring them and causing them to glow more vibrantly. Then, as she scooped up some water and let it trail down her leg, the bacteria clung to her fur, causing her entire cream-colored paw to glow the same blue for a short while, until the aquatic bacteria began to die off and the glow slowly faded from her. "Nifty, huh? I think it's very pretty myself."

_________________________________________________________________ Immersed in the fascination of staring at the bioluminescent bacteria, only did one of her ears turn when Syanna walked into the water. Feeling the closeness of the other girl beside her caused her eye to lift up out of curiosity. It was odd growing accustomed to only having one eye, even still. Having to tilt her face so that her one working eye could see what Syanna was doing secretly frustrated her, but Audra was able to hold back any change in her expression. It would do no good to ruin the fun and exciting moment with her trauma. Silently, she watched the orange-coated girl pick up a paw and ladle a bit of water over her other leg. Suddenly, upon the bacteria being stirred up, even as the water drizzled down her fur, the ivory on her fur turned a soft blue for a few moments. Amazed, Audra released an audible gasp as the blue finally faded. "Amazing," the petite girl whispered as she turned her attention back onto the illuminated water. Lifting her own paw to scoop up a bit of water, she dripped it over her own tawny and russet leg to drizzle it and allow it to light up the same way. "I-I have y-yet to see any w-water like this be-before," her voice is quiet as she scooped another paw full and lets it glide down her again. _________________________________________________________________ A U D R A

Syanna gave an airy laugh to Audra's amazement. She did have to admit, the first time she'd seen the glowing waters of the Shimmering Shore, she had been shocked and amazed as well! Boreas and Auster were lands so full of magic and mystery, it amazed her still to this day. She watched while Audra repeated the trick she showed her, showering some of the ocean water over her own tawny paw and watching with glee while it glowed the same way Syanna's had. "Pretty neat, right?" she said while she repeated the trick again, this time flexing and wiggling her digits so she could watch the way the glow moved about on her fur. "These lands really are something... I've traveled around almost all my life, but I still keep finding wonderful things here. There's always something new to discover."
Turning to head out of the water with her collection of seaweed, Syanna gave a parting smile to Audra. "Well, it was very nice getting to meet you properly, Audra! I'm sure I'll be seeing more of you around the Hallows," she said, scooping up one more bundle of seaweed for the road. "You have a good night!" Heading back to the castle, Syanna made a mental note to hang the seaweed up to dry before she called it a night. All the while she wore a smile on her face, happy to have met another friendly wolf to call a friend.
