The youngest of Ashen’s forces were only just beginning their training but already Venom was an incredibly proud aunt. She had no doubt that her brother would produce incredible children and even with how fresh they were. Already they were making the Palace their home and having the sound of young children ring in the halls soothed the Empress of her deeper worries she kept within.

The Empress made her way to the beach before she called for one of the youths to her side. The sand would help cushion any falls or big bumps that happened. Venom didn’t want to hurt the child, but she thought they would have fun fighting their aunt and Empress.

So Venom used sharp claws to create a circle for them to spar in. She sat in the middle and called out for the first of her brother’s children.

Dove island archipelago / morning / warm

Sitri was playing and wrestling with one of his father's leopards when a call for him went out from his aunt, making him stop in the middle of a pounce with his head popped up to listen. The spotted cat nudged him to his feet and shooed him out the door which helped him get his bearings enough to go running out of the palace excitedly. He hadn't been expecting for his Aunt Venom to call for him, but he was very excited to see what she had planned! She was one of his family members that he saw the most often besides his siblings since she was in the palace pretty often and would come check on them occasionally. Plus his dad loved her a lot so he knew he needed to love her a lot too!

He found her easily enough on the beach and was just about to run up to her when he noticed the circle she had drawn around herself in the sand and he skidded to a stop right in front of the etched in line, causing a little spray of sand to kick up and disrupt a portion of the circle. "Oops!" he exclaimed, hurriedly fixing the line with his paw before much more carefully stepping over the line and into the circle. With that accomplished he looked back up to Venom with a wide grin and bounded over to her, nearly falling over his feet in the process. "Aunt Venom!" he greeted excitedly, looking up at her with excited wags of his tail. "What're we gonna do?"

Venom didn’t often call her nieces and nephews outside the palace. Living so close she was given unfettered access to her brother’s children and their presence was exactly what she needed. Thinking about them and the future they had ahead of them distracted her from her own future. One that now looked murky and lacked the light it once had. She didn’t think about her empty bed, she let her gaze focus on the star spangled boy that raced up to her.

He noticed the circle a little better than Seere did, but still managed to scuffle it. ”It’s fine, Sitri.” She grinned at him as he fixed up the sand circle and beamed up at her after carefully crossing into the ring. ”Thank you for hurrying out here,” she chuckled softly and leaned down to kiss his forehead. ”We’re going to spar. Whoever gets knocked out of the ring, or gives up first, loses. Ready?”

Venom only gave him a moment to prepare himself before she lifted herself to her paws and lifted one pale limb to swipe at the boy. Her paws were soft, she kept her claws in check because she didn’t want to really harm him.

A grin pulled across his features as she leaned down toward him and he stretched up toward her with his muzzle tipped down for her to kiss his head, his tail wagging behind him. He waited eagerly to hear what they were going to do and as soon as she told him they were going to spar he could hardly keep his butt from wiggling with how his tail was wagging so fast with excitement. "Okay!" he replied with an enthusiastic nod once the details of their spar had been laid out for him. Don't go out of the circle and try to get Aunt Venom out instead. Easy enough! Well, maybe not easy since she was so much bigger and the Empress after all, but he'd still try! He definitely wasn't gonna give up, that was for sure!

Sitri hopped into a fighting stance like he had been working on with his dad, his clumsy feet more or less even under him and his ears pinned back with a snarl that was more adorable than it was frightening. His aunt's large white gloved foot swung toward him and he scrambled back to avoid it, ducking toward the ground so that it could breeze past him instead. As quick and zoomy as he could be with his feet that he hadn't grown into yet and the slippery sand under them, Sitri darted forward to try and slip under his aunt between her legs, aiming to pounce with his forelegs wrapping around her back leg. He tried to throw himself into his bounding jump so maybe he could knock her back leg loose and possibly throw her off balance.

"Sitri Abraxas-Destruction"

Sitri was so sweet and innocent, he made it easy to be distracted from the darker thoughts lingering within. Venom didn’t want to embrace the paranoid thoughts as she looked at each of the faces she loved. She banished them, and focused her sunset gaze on her nephew’s features as he excitedly accepted her invitation to spar. She let his natural lightheartedness carry her away from the heavy shadows and basked in his smile.

He was still so young yet she didn’t have to focus all of her effort yet. She knew he would likely take after his father. Tall, talented, and handsome. One day she knew he would give her a real run for her money. For now, he was just a quick little bugger. Venom swiped her paw at him and Sitri dipped, ducked, dodged, and weaved away from her and underneath her long legs. He went straight for her rear paws.

His weight was thrown against her limb, but her weight had already shifted back to her front when the boy avoided her swipe. Venom acted as though she stumbled forward, and with the leg she attacked Venom tried to flip him on his back with it so she could pin him with her back foot.

Sitri grinned when he felt his aunt's back leg move after he barreled into it and noticed her fall forward a bit, his chest puffing a bit with what he thought was a momentary victory. Very quickly though he realized this wasn't really the case as all the sudden her large, dark paw swung to push him down into the sand. He squealed with giggles as he was pushed down into the soft sand under them, getting pushed onto his back and pinned down under her paw. Her toes on his stomach tickled so much and it was hard not to giggle and laugh while he was flailing and trying to get out from under her. His paws hit and kicked at her leg and between his squeals of laughter he managed to reach up and try to nip at her ankle in any attempts to free himself from his aunt's grasp. Sparring was so much fun! He could really see why his dad always wanted to get them into spars and practice so much. Why wouldn't he want to do this kind of stuff all the time?
