Zoey had little obligation besides hunting for herself and exploring. She was a loner, but not by choice - an orphan really, but the simplest definition. And perhaps in one of the most horrifying ways too, having seen her parents become overridden by the fungus ooze that took their lives that past season or so. What a short life she’d had with them, but they taught her so much in that timeframe about survival, perhals because they knew they were going to die. Despite the tragedy, she still enjoyed life with a zest only a child her age could have. Her resilience was unmatched, even if the loneliness of her situation did get to her at times. No matter, though. She would keep going. It’s what her mom and dad would have wanted.

Skipping about the orchard, the child adjusted her goggles on occasion as she sniffed the various plants and fruits that grew on the lush bushes and trees, her eyes wide with delight as she tried to make heads or tails of some foliage she hadn’t seen before - oh, she wondered what it could be for? Why did some leaves have broad, flat shapes and some had thinner, smaller leaves? Some bushes with smaller leaves tended to be denser, whereas larger leaves typically didn’t grow in as big of bunches. And the fruit! Was it safe to eat? The russet-furred child hummed to herself as she diligently observ each plant under a scientific lense..quite literally with her goggles.
