He'd spent the last few days fishing and making sure the nets were all in place according to efficiency. Standing on the shore of the bay with his toes in the water, Kuroo let out a quiet sigh of relief. Maybe now he would be able to relax for a few days. Glancing over to the small pile of fresh fish he'd caught earlier, he wondered if it was time he gave some to his Kaicho as a gift. Something to show his appreciation for taking him and Usagi under his wing. Lifting his muzzle to the sky, he called out for Hattori before settling down in the sand. It was time to rest and take a moment to enjoy life before things got a lot more serious.

Emerging from the Maze, Hattori's ears tipped forward at the sound of Kuroo calling for him. There was no sense of urgency or panic in his voice, but the Kaicho didn't hang about regardless, his steps swift and sure as dry land transitioned to wet and muddy, the beginnings of the bay. Kuroo seemed to be at home amongst the gentle waters and had already amassed an impressible pile of fish. It seemed as though he was naturally talented when it came to fishing, like this was a craft truly worth pursuing.

His family felt far removed from the sanctuary of the Maze, but whether they were closely related or not they were family. Both in the blood sense and that they now shared the same clan. Though Hattori was not the sort to throw out praise all willy-nilly, he did appreciate the young man's efforts. Perhaps it was time he said as much, if the occasion arose that is.

Coming to a standstill at a respectful distance from the Chinpira- a title that was no doubt starting to chafe- Hattori gave the fisherman his undivied attention."What do you need?"

Letting his tail swish lightly around in the shallows of the bay's water, he looked at his paws with mild disinterest. Not that he was in any hurry for his Kaicho to arrive, but more so that he was excited to show off his recent catch. Glancing over to the waters where the net swished gently along the surface. Thankfully, he could probably wait until tomorrow to reel the net back in to see if there was anything new. Distracted with making another list of what to do for the following days, one ear turned at the sound of someone approaching. With the scent of Hattori emerging from the brush, Kuroo quickly stood with a slight shake of his coat.

Assessing the Kaicho's gaze and assertive question, Kuroo fought to keep his expression in a neutral position. Need? He didn't need anything from the Kaicho. With a flick of his tail, he looked over to the pile of fish he'd set out near him. "I wanted to show you that the net is working," Kuroo responded he inclined his head out of respect toward Hattori and the fish. "It can be collected daily or every few days without minor repair," he mentioned as well as he went to grab one of the meatier fish from the pile and place it at Hattori's paws. "These are fresh from this morning if you'd like a taste," finally a tinge of a smile flickered across his lips as he took a few steps back.

Hattori eyed the pile of fish, his nose twitching as he noted the freshness of Kuroo's catch. It appeared as though he was settling in well, putting himself to work and managing the fishery to the best of his abilities. Like most things it was no doubt easier said than done, but rather than kick up a fuss he'd simply gotten on with it. Impressive. Hattori padded a little closer,  his gaze roving over the calm waters. He'd already had his fill this morning and didn't intend to eat again till later in the day, but the haul would do well to stock their larder.

He eyed the fish at his paws for a moment and though he did not intend to accept, he appreciated the sentiment all the same. In his own, silent broody way.

"I am not hungry. You should have it, fishing is hungry work."

Hattori's words at first sent a slight tinge of disappointment through Kuroo. Maybe he isn't hungry. Refusing to take it personally, Kuroo smiled at his Kaicho with a nod of his head. Stepping forward to grab the fish and place it back neatly on the pile, he looked back over. "I won't eat more than I need and hunger doesn't strike me yet," there is humor in his tone as he looks away from Hattori out toward the bay. "There is still a lot of water to cover if we want to fill the supplies. Plus if Tojo continues to grow, we will need more fish," his lips turn up in a smile as he continues to watch the calm waters speckled with light from the sun overhead.

"I don't want to take up more of your time. If you find someone else who would like to learn the net system or how to fish, send them my way," Kuroo dips his head once more to his Kaicho before taking a few more steps toward the bank. "I'll make sure that pile gets to the larder before they go sour," he adds before respectfully waiting to see if Hattori had anything more to say.

Hattori followed the fisher's gaze to the water, to the gently sloshing waters Tojo had claimed as its own. Kuroo was right in his assumption, there was a lot of work to be done and yet Hattori trusted it would be handled in time. It was hard to say how large the clan would grow, it certainly wasn't for everyone but in the end that was the point. To be a home away from home, true to the old ways that were unattainable anywhere else within Auster or Boreas.

It felt as though Kuroo would flourish in his newly found position. That remaining by the water was where he ought to be, that his skills would serve Tojo best as he handled their stores and made sure everyone had enough fish to go around.

Hattori nodded, pleased.

"You are doing well. Keep it up." The Kaicho told him, blunt and honest, the furthest thing from a flowery compliment one could get. "Perhaps in time you could lead a whale hunt. It will take a lot of organisation, but it is possible." It wasn't exactly a common occurrence back in Nihon, but it was a custom Hattori wished to retain. To improve till it was something they could do annually.
