Blood in the water
Scylla

They were going to be leaving soon and head back north so Chade used today to go a bit farther from the band to explore auster while there was still time and now that his confidence was growing. Chade found himself in the strange cove at low tide. Water trapped in a variety of tide pools and the scent of various different creatures within them, some of the animals easier to spot than others. Mostly crabs, but also strange fish that actually dove under the sand, something with more legs than he’d ever imagined on a create crawling along the sand and rocks and yet another funny thing that looked like a clear disc with strings hanging from it.
Chade had started to the jellyfish that just seemed sprawled in the grit when he spotted a couple of forms that were walking the path about where he had come from. A bunch of dogs, two resembling some type of hound mixes but bulkier than a general hound would have along with something smaller but muscular form of a bulldog, and the other two mutts also larger with muscle.
The dogs were spreading out so as to form a half-circle around Chade with the ocean not overly far behind him. So they thought they needed to trap him for a fight? Chade snarled, glaring at each dog in turn. The blue boy didn’t wait for them to start things but instead ran towards one of the bulky hound-like dogs, slamming his teeth into its neck. He had to thin the numbers fast. Tough guy routine in initiating the fight Chade was well aware of the terrible odds.
He already saw the other dogs coming in from both sides. Chade let go of the one, getting his teeth free so he could defend himself against whoever thought to attack next. The one dog was still alive but hopefully, he’d step out of the fight with the blood flowing down the neck.

Scylla had been frequenting the tide pools, mostly because she wasn't allowed to. Technically, she wasn't allowed to be on the mainland at all. Not without an escort. However, Scylla did whatever she wanted to do and it was difficult to tie her down and keep her in one place. She was pretty sure that her father had given up on trying. Each time that she left, she came back unscathed, so she continued venturing out.
As she neared the cove, the girl could hear sounds of a scuffle. Why was everything always fighting? Not that she minded, but she wondered where everything found its endless aggression. Coming a round a curve, she noted a blue boy fighting off some curs. After watching for a moment, Scylla decided to help. Why not? She didn't have anything else to do.
Coming up behind one of the canines while their attention was on the blue wolf, Scylla shot the boy a wink, then pulled her serpentine blade and sliced cleanly through the hamstring of one of the larger dogs. It screamed and squealed, running away from the bunch on three legs and leaving a trail of claret in its wake. Well... that one was easy. In doing that, however, the squat, bulldog looking beast now had its sights on her. Great.
Scylla should be seen as a very adult character who will indulge in acts that others may find graphic and uncomfortable. Steer clear if you don't like this sort of thing.

Chade had no clue who this smaller wolf was, but he wasn’t about to complain to some help in the uneven fight. Sure, he was becoming a decent fighter but the odds here stunk. She seemed pretty small but he had to be impressed when she used her paws rather like some primate and with a sharpened blade sliced into the hound's hamstring.
The numbers were quickly growing better. The large blue wolf turned sideways just in time to snap his teeth at a bulldog-like muzzle before Chade himself got bit. It wasn’t an ideal bite for doing damage, so Chade let go to position himself better. The first bite had been mostly to not let the bulldog bite him. It wasn’t as large as the other dogs but there was no doubt about the thick muscles it had.
The bulldog attempted to bite Chade’s hind leg and the wolf twisted about, biting for the bulldog but it also stepped back. Chade lunged in, not done with his attack, and had more success the second time, biting into its neck. The dog tried to pull back and Chade held fast for another moment before letting go. The fool wasn’t fleeing as Chade had helped. Chade had hoped to turn his attention to help Scylla with any dogs focusing on her. Well, she seemed competent on her own.

With the bulldog's attention on her, Scylla couldn't spare much attention for the other pup. She had her own tail to worry about. As the dog rushed her, the slate and cream girl closed her eyes tight and lashed out at the brute with her knife. She could feel the reverberation of her blade hitting flesh and opened her eyes just as the dog yelped. Her blade had sliced one ear clean off and had taken a chunk out of the dogs cheek as well. Grimacing, Scylla took the opportunity to put some distance between herself and the dog. Really... it wasn't even necessary. The girl turned back to the dog only to see its retreating backside. Apparently losing an ear was enough to make it rethink its life choices.
Feeling accomplished, Scylla turned to the blue boy and hurried over to help him if necessary.

Chade heard the dog Scylla faced scream which assured him she was managing just fine. Well, hopefully at least. Chade lunged forward to the bulldog again, getting a bite on its muzzle, biting down, and crunching deep into the muzzle. Whether or not that would have been enough on its own, with the other injury to the dog already bad enough it seemed that was the final straw and it fled.
That left one dog remaining and Chade turned to face it, snarling. It was facing him but as Chade stepped towards it, the dog stepped back. Chade’s gaze flicked to Scylla then back to the large mutt. Chade lunged, twisting his body so the dog stepped back, his rump now facing in Scylla’s direction. The dog’s focus was solely on Chade.
It tried attacking Chade who stepped leaped aside but, not so far to the side that the dog would need to turn far to keep facing. Chade wanted its attention fully on him, this other pup seemed pretty good at attacking from behind! Chade lunged in, biting down low this time, teeth biting into the lower leg, but only for a moment before he had to twist his head up snapping at the other dog's jaw’s as it had tried to go for Chade’s neck. Chade was mostly stalling for time assuming the other wolf would make use of the situation.

Having caught the pointed looks from the other blue pup, Scylla hurried over to help. The boy snapped at the dog, keeping its attention on him so the girl could do what she did. As the dog tried to bite into the back of the other wolfs neck, Scylla sidled up behind and stabbed her blade hard into the thick meet of the dogs thigh. The canine shrieked, its ears pulling back as it lowered its bloody haunches and went tearing away from the pair of wolves. Scylla watched it go, then wiped the blood from her blade on a piece of seaweed before putting it back to bed. Mismatched eyes turned to the slightly older boy and she grinned. "Fine work."
