Walk | Talk | Think

She had stolen away from Klypso for a bit, telling him that she needed to hunt for herself for a change. It was nice, she had to admit, waking up and finding food already there waiting for her or for the small black, grey, and white male to be out hunting it for her. She had settled into a surprisingly lazy pattern of letting it happen, looking forward to it even, and though it was still strange to her it felt somewhat familiar. It was almost like having Yang back. Almost. No one could ever completely fill the space left by her twin, but the optimistic, happy-go-lucky, unfailing generosity and kindness from the wolf was doing a pretty decent job.

Still, she needed moments where she could feel like herself again, and so her large white paws tore at the ice and snow as she raced headlong across the Frozen Fields. Eyes were narrowed and ears were tucked, her reckless pace dangerous if not for her familiarity with this territory. She knew which invisible, icy path to take, which ones to avoid, and hunt forgotten she instead relished the feel of the cold wind through her coat, across her face, the ground that zipped by beneath her feet with each sprinting leap. She felt free, alive. She finally felt complete and whole. At last she felt like herself again.

The Northern terrain seemed to always be where he lingered. Although it was everywhere he seemed to be. Hansel wandered from place to place, now without his sister, however, as she still seemed to be afraid from her ordeal. He couldn't blame her, he couldn't imagine what it would be like to be enslaved and forced to what she had been through...the rage about it still lingered, and he still wanted to hurt those involved. He didn't care who they were; if they were once part of that pack he would make them regret ever being a part of such a thing. Nobody took his sister like that, and he would ensure it never happened again.

To vent out his lingering anger and hatred, he decided to go out and see who or what would cross his path. The weather was cool today, and thankfully not as unbearably hot as Summer had been. The more he walked, however, it was as if the cool air seemed to be cooling his temper. He stopped in his tracks, a deep breath pouring from his nostrils as sea blue eyes raised to the sky. Winter would be approaching soon, and he had yet to find another pack where he and his sister could reside. He missed Taurig's pack, it was a place where he felt needed and a sense of belonging. They were a family, and Hansel wished to find a place like that again. The wind would gently tug at his fur, bringing his mind back to the present. Nostrils flared as he caught scent of the wind, and with it, the scent of familiarity...

Eyes widened, what was going on here? He seemed to come across her again and again, ever since their chance encounter with the cougar. He remembered that day as if it had just happened, they fought together then helped each other survive. He watched the ivory girl running across the snow, and if not for her tail, she would have easily blended in with the snow around them. Wondering what she was doing out here, he made his way toward her in the same pace she was going. He wasn't sure why, but he was happy to see her. Everytime, even with her temper, he was always happy to see her. The male churned snow beneath his paws, and at last he had closed the distance and was practically running alongside her with a few feet of distance. "Hey, Yin! Nice to see ya' again!"

Walk | Talk | Think

She had been focused, driven purposefully, oblivious to anything around her but the wind on her face and the snow kicking up beneath her feet. It was a wonderful feeling, would have been a wonderful feeling, if not for the intruder who was creeping up swiftly on her. She only heard him when he was close, and spotting his figure out of her peripheral vision she finally glanced his way.

A look of utter surprise crossed her features as she stared at Hansel while he raced alongside her, paced to match her with that unnerving smile on his face. His voice was chipper, friendly, reminiscent of the same tone he had used when he had first greeted her on the battlefield; it seemed as if he had not changed at all.

Thrown off by his presence, the white wolf quickly threw on the brakes, lowering her rumo as she dug her paws into the snow and skidded dangerously to a stop. She said nothing, only stared at him closely while she caught her breath. He was still the large, impressive wolf that she had remembered him to be, still, riddled with scars - and possibly a few more considering his smug attitude was still in tact.

Her expression was one of wary surprise, very different than the snarling, teeth baring monster she had presented before. For all the anger that she had once had, that she rightfully should have possessed, she was strangely calm. Was she still angry? Yes, undoubtedly. But it no longer consumed her. She was learning again how better to master herself, how to keep control and make sure that her emotions did not overtake her again. It was new to her - she had been too long without someone to ground her - but she remembered a little. Enough to know that this time she could get through the needed conversation without snapping.

By now she had caught her breath, her sea green and icy blue eyes unwavering as she stared across at the grey toned, blue-eyed male she was reluctant to say she had missed. "What are you doing here?" she asked when she finally had the sense enough to speak. Had he simply happened upon her by chance? Had he sought her out? Why had fate thrown him into her path again after keeping him away for so long?

He had been enjoying the run. But it would not last very long as the woman noticed him and nearly halting on a dime. He too would stop, but a few feet ahead of her before turning around and facing her. She seemed bewildered, surprised to see him again. He hadn't expected to run into her again, but it seemed to be a common thing as of late. He plastered his famous grin upon his face, a crooked smile that was in his own way, sort of charming. Not that he tried, however. "What are you doing here?" His tail would slowly wave back and forth between his hind legs, thinking that perhaps she wasn't happy to see him considering all the times he had found her and disappeared shortly after. He couldn't help himself though, he had never been very social to begin with and he was a very private male. But if this girl was constantly being thrown in his path, then perhaps it was a sign of...something?

"It's nice to see you too." He would respond in a teasing manner, knowing how easy it was for her to get cross and annoyed. She was like him in many ways, hot headed and easy to tick off...but she was beautiful too...Wait...did I just think that? It was unheard of. He usually never really payed any mind to those kinds of thoughts towards girls, for the only girl ever on his mind was his beloved sister. He always wanted to make sure she was safe, and so far she had been. But the sudden thought about Yin surprised him, and it showed subtly on his face like a dumbfounded pup. For a brief moment, he stood there before shaking his head. He looked at her with a raised brow, the cocky smile on his face and a spark of humor in his eye. "I could ask the same of you. If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were stalking me...I know i'm handsome, but damn!"

What was he doing here? She had thought she had made it undoubtedly clear what her opinion of him had been - hell, they had even had an audience, a pair of witnesses, to that confrontation - and yet for some unknown, incomprehensible reason he was here again, tail wagging and grinning as if he took some twisted delight from her discomfort. It was not fair. She may have not been the best or most admirable of characters, especially not with her temper and tendency to snap before asking questions, but she could not understand if her actions had been enough to warrant the torture of company she had never wanted, never needed, consistently jumping in and out of her life.

He tried, damn him, to get under her skin. She could feel it too, the answering anger that willingly rose up inside at his taunting tone of voice. No, Yin did not want to give him that satisfaction, no matter how nice and easy it would have been for her to allow that anger sway over her actions. Her mismatched, green and blue eyes narrowed slightly, the only true sign she would give of her irritation, and a slow, careful breath was drawn in and then out. Good, she had reigned in her anger. She could do this.

For just a moment the greyscale male's expression changed, altered, took on a different look from what she was used to. It was gone in a matter of seconds, just as inexplicably as it had come, and quite remarkably he recovered well. His smile returned, the playful glint in his eye sparked, and his tone was entirely teasing as he suggested their reunion was all her doing, feeding his own ego by claiming that it was all because of it good looks. "As I recall you were the one who approached me," she answered flatly, her dark tail twitching behind her as it slightly betrayed her feelings, "not the other way around. So I'll ask again, what are you doing here?" Why had he tried to speak to her again?

She would question him again, noting the rising irritation that began to bubble to the surface. His mouth would shift into a line, hiding the smile that was ever present on his face. Would she attack him again? Perhaps if she did, she would finally let out the frustration and anger she felt. And it wouldn't be so bad for him either...it had been a while since he had fought with anyone, but with her? They fought off a mountain lion for gods sake! They were both in their element, despite their age. He would sigh, finally deciding perhaps he should tell her why he was here. Although, it was coincidence that they had run into each other again, but anyway. "Alright alright, you got me. I guess you can just say I'm...looking for somewhere Gretel and I can go. We don't exactly have a home, and I want to find a place safe for my sister..." His voice would grow slightly more dark, serious even. "She is wary of the world now, since her enslavement in Amenti."

There, would that make her happy? He explained to her, something he wouldn't have told anyone else. He was independent, never needed anyone besides his sister. But the cat was out of the bag now, he was actually seeking a place to go...despite his problem with authority. But she had to be safe. She was all he had, after all. From there on out, his humor would disappear. Eyes losing sense of playfulness as his tail remained still. He wasn't sure why he told her that, but better to give it straightforward then to keep goofing around right now, especially towards someone who probably hated him. "That's why I'm here."
