Heart At Home
Seere, Rava

Saia was out on a walk with Seere around the islands. With age came more freedom, but also more responsibility. And with that she and her siblings were expected, or maybe not so much, to look out for and care for one another. That was easy on Saia's part.
She spent most of her days away in the royal chambers with their mother. She was quite reclusive or at least a home body. She didn't really have any social anxiety or anything. Just liked to be inside with Rava most of the time. She had no problem talking to others she just hadn't made it very far from their home island.
Sticking along the tree lines of Dove island and near the shores. She walked in the more soil than sand area, but sometimes it was hard to tell where the separation was. Sometimes it was a hard line, and other places it was completely blended in where the sand and dirt mixed into a faded gradient in both directions.
Her eyes were drawn in to this odd looking striking color off of one of the tree trunks. Sticking her paw out to get Seere's attention, she went to move closer to it. "Look here." As she got closer, she noticed the little bit of color was a flower, Earth Smoke. She looked at it with a bit of fascination, she was only growing eager of knowledge as she aged, she wanted to know everything. "What do you think it is?" She questioned Seere, but was sure she wouldn't know either. She only observed the flower without touching it, it was too pretty to risk it crumbling in her paws.

The seasons have changed, the days passing slowly transitioning from the blazing warmth the summer offered to a milder chill. Many things have changed along with the leaves, the pups all sprouting up and growing taller with each passing day. Well, all of them expect Seere. As the pups started to grow, it had become apparent that the monochrome girl will not become as tall as her other siblings. She could have been sad or angry at the world for giving her the ‘short’ end of the stick but she is neither. Seere loves her siblings and her family with all her heart and, because of that love, there is no room for jealously or anger in her. They are all going to be taller then her? Awesome! That also means that she will be able to get in to places they can’t and vice versa. Every cloud has a silver lining with Seere.
The small, monochrome pup loves her siblings and, when, Saia had announced that she was going to take a walk around the islands, Seere had eagerly chased after her. Who knows what big, scary things might be lurking on the other islands? Saia will need protection! A smile rests on her lips as she prances next to her sister, finding joy in the company and beautiful day. Mismatched eyes roam the trees and skies, watching the birds that are preparing to fly south for the winter. They walk near the shores, sticking to the more solidly packed sands and soil where they can find it. Seere tracks a small cluster of birds that seem to be dancing to some unheard tune, watching with great fascination at the way they dip and spin in their aerial dance.
She is so caught up in the birds that she almost misses Saia pointing toward one of the tree trunks. Almost. The shift of her sister’s attention and change in direction has Seere’s mismatched gaze falling back to the black and red form of her sister and she swiftly moves to follow her. Saia tells her to look closer at a flower and the small pup obliges. Mint and purple gaze turn to the tubular flowers pink flowers that line a green stalk. Oh, those are pretty! Carefully moving closer, the monochrome pup closely examines the plant, admiring the way the pink flowers gradually darken to purple at their tips. Eyes trace down the delicate stalk that holds the flowers aloft, spying soft leaves of a lighter green on shorter, branching stalks. The small cluster that makes up the plant sticks up from the sandy ground, seeming at home on the beach.
Saia’s voice questions Seere about what she thinks it is and the monochrome girl’s eyebrows furrow as she considers the plant more closely. Leaning in, she gentle sniffs a flower, noting the delicate floral scent but not sensing anything that screams poisonous. After several minutes of quiet contemplation, Seere steps back and looks to Saia, giving her sister a huge shrug while saying, “I dunno. Maybe mommy would know! We could try to take the plant to her.” Bright eyes look to her sibling, curious as to how they would even be able to take it without injuring the plant. It’s okay, Saia is slightly older and taller than her which that means Saia knows everything. She probably already has a plan ready! Wow. Saia really is smart. A smile appears as her mind turns everything over, ready to do whatever her sister tells her to.

Every day her babies got bigger and older Rava was reminded how stunted she really was. From wild woman to slave to housewife the realities of these extremes still affected her even today. Going outside, being in large groups of wolves or around strangers brought her great fear. She was naturally a loner and somewhat wild. Being here and formed into civilization didn’t always result in homogeny. Her skills and her instincts often ran in contradiction to the life that Plague brought her into. If she didn’t have her children, if she didn’t have Plague and Void, she would never survive here in Ashen.
She almost always had Saia with her, all of her children were special but she took after her mother the most. She didn’t hold the same fear, just adopted the same habits. Part of Rava felt ashamed for that, and the other part was thankful that she was so close to her sweet child. It wasn’t odd that she was not with her now, but her missing presence was noted. Rava was glad all of her pups were getting out and seeing the world. It was what they deserved. Plague was from the royal family, and their lineage meant they had the world open to their paws. Unlike anything their mother ever had.
Rava knew the two girls were out and about together. Knowing they usually stuck together out there warmed her heart. She hoped they would all stay close together, remain here with her as time continued onward. Ashen seemed like a good place to grow up, especially for children of the second in command. After they’d been gone for most of the day though, Rava finally made herself emerge from the palace to seek them out.
Dark paws carried her with ease, each step soft and careful as the woman remained careful to move silently. That was how she survived for so long, being invisible. Eventually she found the girl’s trail and followed it without hesitation. She would follow until the girl’s were visible. Their attention obviously anywhere but on her. Silver eyes assessed the situation before she emerged from the woods timidly. She tilted her head, wondering what they were looking at. ”What have you found?” She asked quietly, hoping not to startle either one of them now that she revealed herself.

Saia hummed to Seere's suggestion, and while her sister may have been looking up to her to know everything that was certainly not the case. It wasn't that she wouldn't admit she didn't know how to handle the herb, whether that was to relocate or even to simply harvest it. But at least she was trying to think of a way to do so. She was careful not to just jump forward and rip the plant out of the ground. She wasn't so eager, but she was interested. Rava must know all about the plant, it seemed to be a chain of who to look at for answers.
And just as she was thinking of Seere's spoken thought of how their mother would know what the plant was, Rava was there behind them. Almost like they had summoned her here just by thought alone. She didn't startle Saia though however, her mixed gaze turning to look at her mother as her question rang out. "I don't know mom, can you tell us about it?" She questioned herself with an all too familiar flat expression. Saia was a rather serious pup, but she still did show mostly love and at least an eagerness to learn and be with her family. "Can we move it back closer to home? So me and Seere can take care of it?" She was ready to follow instruction her her mother, and maybe her and Seere would be able to help move the plant together. A whole learning experience for the women of their little family. Their mother the teacher to her children, and Seere and Saia so willing and eager to take what was offered to them.
