The Stone Steppe wasn't particularly far from Mount Vulcan. Now that they were nearing a year old, Recluse was not necessarily okay, but more okay with them wandering outside of the pack's boundaries. Which was why he had gathered up his sister for a journey to hunt some particularly larger prey. See, the thing was, Ghoul was getting bored of hunting badgers and foxes. They were smaller and not as mean or difficult to fight or hunt anymore. He wanted something dangerous and thrilling. This was also another reason why he had brought his larger sister, Widow, along with him. While Macabre was his favorite dueling partner, he needed someone with power and strength behind their limbs.

Ghoul knew she wasn't keen on spending too much time with him, but how could anyone resist tracking down and fighting a caribou? Their large fuzzy antlers and hoofed feet weren't anything too dangerous in the pale pelted boy's mind. Really, if you stood him and Widow next to each other, she was almost his midnight counterpart. "I see them just up ahead," he whispered quietly to his sister. In truth, it had taken some slight begging to get her to come with, but ultimately her giving in had delighted him. Feeling the buzz of adrenaline in his body as they followed the herd of caribou north, he could feel his mouth begin to salivate in anticipation.

Taking the lead as his ruby eyes locked on to a large bull with nasty-looking antlers, he kept a good distance at first. Why go for the young or the sick when they could potentially take down something large like that? Letting a cruel sort of smile slip onto his lips, Ghoul took the first charge at the bull. His paws slammed the ground with determination as he let his ears fold back against his skull and bobbed tail tuck between his legs. Launching at the bull without care, he aimed to take a good-sized tear out of the thing's shoulder. Unfortunately for Ghoul, it had been ready for them. Its bulky head swung toward him and hit him full force in the side. Knocked out of the way by a few feet, he slid in the dirt as tears welled in his eyes.
