Sayuri had come across the old wolf by accident. Leaving Auster behind her, she entered Boreas in search of patients. With her was the alfalfa she had gathered down south. It was a good stock, leaving her with little complaint about the herb. She noticed a man bent over, holding his stomach with one paw. She approached boldly, though respectfully. Her head lowered as she skirted around him, concern flickering across her blue eyes. "Good sir" she began "what ails you?" The man looked surprised he had been spotted, even spoken to. He glanced at the pretty young thing with a grimace. "I have a bit of a hard time these days, miss" he replied, his age showing in his gravely voice "these bones aren't as good as they used to be" He tried to joke too but Sayuri kept her giggle to herself, only showing sympathy "and I'm afraid nothing goes down the right way... I'm losing weight. It won't do in the winter, miss. I need to bulk up, but I can't hunt alone." He sighed, shaking his head. Sayuri pondered briefly before pushing her herbs to him. She smiled warmly. "Good sir, perhaps try this?" she began again "this alfalfa is from Auster, and carries the ability to gain weight even without ingesting anything." He looked surprised at her willingness to help. But she wasn't done. "If you take this herb, I will find something for you to eat as well. I can manage to hunt a hare for you, good sir." The old wolf chuckled, but he did agree to her terms. Having come across the herb in Auster himself, he knew a thing or two. It wasn't good to administer unwilling patients. Sayuri was quite pleased that she could help, and gather notoriety from it. She watched as he took the herbs before walking off to find food. By the time she had come back, a scrawny yet juicy rabbit in her jaws, he licked his lips free of the plant. "Thank you, miss." he would proclaim, but she wouldn't hear of it. "I was happy to have helped you!" Sayuri protested with a giggle "here you are, good sir. Perhaps you will have the strength now to hunt with the alfalfa and the meat?" He agreed with her on this. The koi woman sat down and watched as he ate. Sometimes he talked through his meal, telling her all about Boreas and Auster from his travels. Sometimes she spoke too. She told him of her homeland, of her work (leaving some key visuals out) as a maiden. She even told him she had thought about becoming a shrine priestess upon a time. Alas, it had not been meant to be. She could do little to soothe religious folk. The pair spoke from the afternoon until it grew dark. Sayuri would bid him farewell after she could confirm he was capable of walking and finding a den for himself. She would head back to Auster from the Bifrost. Pleased with herself, she realised she had gained a bit of experience from her task. There was, however, much more to learn. She rarely dabbled in herbs and healing. Venomous poison was more her 'speed', so to speak. She wondered if Tojo-kai would have a need for her skills in due time? She would speak with Hattori about it, once she had gathered much more experience. She would not like to look like a fool with the handsome alpha man. Before she would cross the Bifrost, Sayuri heard a voice behind her. She turned to see the old man. "Good sir! You must rest!" she cautioned him, but the man shook his head. "Miss, here, these are for you." He pushed a bundle of herbs toward her. Her eyes lit up with interest. "Thank you. You have humbled my efforts!" she bowed her head to him, taking the immune boosting items and tucking them close. Sayuri approached the man and pressed her dark nose to his cheek. The old wolf blushed at such a pretty young thing's actions, coughing a 'no big deal' to her before leaving. She watched him go with a warm feeling in her chest. Experience was one thing, but she did so enjoy being rewarded for her efforts. Tojo-kai would have needed these herbs in these winter months. She would pluck them from the ground and begin to head back again. This time, she saw no interruption. The old wolf would be free from her mind in a few days. Even if she assumed he was still doing well. She would not see him again, that was for sure. However, if she ever had a need to seek out company... She hoped they would be as charming as he had been! She could stand to have better company. speech here 805/800 SOLO |
