For quite some time, Isara quietly followed the large black male deeper into the woods. She had no idea where he was leading her, nor if he really was a good wolf to follow either. But he had seemed at least a better option than the other wolf they had dealt with earlier. Brief memories of the other male’s voice trying to command her flashed around her before she shook her head to clear them away. Once she had done so, she started looking around at the scenery surrounding them.

With pure awe her eyes grew wide at all the trees and how tall they were - though she yet did not know them as trees but rather just weird shaped tall rocks. She also noted the paths of water that seemed to sprawl around them. Some of them were covered in some sort of hard covering while others were not. Some even had living creatures within them still wriggling around within the water. She even paused to watch one of the creatures for a moment before realizing that her guide and guardian was getting further away than she would have liked so she quickly scampered back to a reasonable distance.

Or at least…she would have if she had still paid attention.

Instead, at the last moment a creature jumped out of the water and drew her attention away from Ardyn. Before she even knew he had stopped moving she completely ran into him, bumping into his hindlegs before falling backwards onto her butt as a result.

“Chomouda yu hod op?” her voice meekly asked, confused since she had no clue where they were or what his intentions were. She quickly took a glance around, but nothing really seemed all that different from where they had first met other than there were more of the weird tall rocks and there wasn’t another wolf besides him and her. Just what was he planning to do?

Ardyn Cadeyrn Aodhán Phoenix Adravendi

He’d led the young wolf well away, heading toward Abaven while Lyr wheeled above, keeping an eye out for any sign of being followed. After an hour or so of steady pace, keeping slow enough for the girl to keep up aside from her wide-eyed regard of the world around her, Lyr dropped through the willows and landed on a bough, clicking his bill.

Ardyn nodded, coming to a stop. Soon after, a small frame bumped into his haunches and a faint grin of amusement touched his features as he twisted slightly in his tracks to peer around his hind end at the girl as she inquired. He still wasn’t sure what the words were exactly, but her expressions, tone, and body language were enough to guess some manner of translation.

He reached back and dug through his left front pouch, pulling out a packet of meat, popping the beeswax seal and unfolding the pigskin wrapping to set it on the ground between them as he moved to flop across from her at the base of a particularly large willow, flowing tail brushing the ground in a fiery wag of invitation as he pointed to the jerky.

“Food; eat?”

It was an identifier, and an offer of something to fill her belly if she wanted it, and he plucked a strip from the pile, settling it between his back teeth and gnawing, letting the girl choose whether to eat any or not while he mulled over the next course of action. Abaven wasn't going anywhere, so he wouldn't be against turning back and returning to Valhalla to settle the girl in where she'd be safe and able to get her bearings. He doubted Theory would be at all annoyed that he'd put a new packmate before politics and trade.

With his strip of jerky chewed down his eyes shifted back into focus from his thoughts, and he regarded his new charge. Tiny, timid, and a language barrier. It would be an interesting process to see how she would take in education on the common tongue. His mother would be a good candidate. For all her ethereal appearance, she was a gentle, patient teacher.

For now, though, Ardyn could at least see if they could get a name from the girl. Gently, he hummed for her attention, ears perked as he pointed to himself once more, pronouncing slowly, “My name is Ardyn.”

His long digits flipped to gesture to her, head cocking in clear question as he added, “You?”

His eyes twinkled with earnest invitation for communication, and a hope that she might understand well enough to get somewhere.

Walk ---- "Speak" ---- "Labhair an Sean-Teanga." ---- "Hear" ---- Think

Ardyn's family (Red, Aurielle, Siblings, Valhalla) are allowed to crash threads, regardless of private tags.

Ardyn at first glance is as black as can be imagined with a raven sheen.

Closer inspection proves that he shimmers in fire tones in every hair on his hide right down to his lashes.

More obviously, he glows like a bed of coals and flames with every movement and brush of fur. His tail is usually wagging, so blazes like a torch.

His adult teeth are in and his saber canines have grown to their full length (see profile). His mane and tail hair have grown to full length, as well as being lightweight and easily buffeted by breezes.

A look at his front paws will give the impression of hands, with his dew claw dropped low and lengthened into a functioning thumb, and his toes elongated into fingers. He has retractable, solid black cat-like claws on every paw.

Ardyn has developed a glowing mast of intricate markings in fire and ice colors over his face, symmetrical over the last seasons of Year 17 (see profile for details). During hunts or raids/sieges, he will smudge them out with black soot to cover the glow, otherwise, they are bright enough to note at first direct glance at his face. Not all his artwork currently portrays the mask markings.

He is also often bedecked in beads, small bells, feathers in blues, ribbons and braids thanks to the Ooze Event of Halloween 2021, and the Coathanger item that he got. The accessories generally are seen most in his mane and tail hair. He removes the brighter items and bells for hunts or battle.

Teal eyes watched the male before her with a sort of eager interest mixed with caution as he turned around and reached into the bag that he carried. Slowly the girl got up from her previously sitting position as she curiously paid close attention as he placed whatever it was he grabbed onto the ground. Ears pointed forward…if it were possibly they would have dragged her forwards out of the intensity that they were at alert. Did he pull out something that was alive? Was it medicine? Thinking back to her past life, Isara only remembered ever seeing a bag whenever medicine was dispersed - and it never tasted good and usually didn’t do much.

However, after he flopped at the base of one of the weird rocks he seemed to point to the item in question before speaking in words that she clearly didn’t understand. Slowly she approached the item - full of curiosity and caution. Just as her eyes beheld what looked like an odd pile of some sort of food, the male reached down and grabbed a piece for himself and proceeded to chew it. “Dina?” her soft voice half asked and half stated as she looked back down to the pile of meat before looking back at the male. Isara’s head cocked slightly as she watched him chew the weird meat before curiously getting closer to the meat to inspect it.

Honestly, she didn’t know what to make of it at first. It looked weird and wrinkly…and dry. It obviously wasn’t poisoned since he ate a piece himself, right? Her nose began to sniff at the meat and soon her mouth began to water because it smelled delicious. A pang echoed within her stomach as it growled from hunger. Her ears fell backwards and her eyes darted upwards at the male wondering if he heard her stomach. After a few seconds however, she cautiously and gingerly took a piece between her teeth while looking at the male until she backed up slightly to chew on the food.

And chew…and chew…chew chew chew….

Isara wasn’t sure what type of meat this was but it sure was the chewiest meat she had ever eaten. However, what it lacked in tenderness it had in flavor. Notes of spices and salt exploded within her mouth as she chewed upon the piece she picked up. Eventually, she managed to break through the toughness of the piece of meat and get it to a point where she could easily swallow it and once she did she eyed the pile again before looking at the male as she moved to nab another piece to eat. Once done, she sat down again as she chewed. When she was done with the second piece however the male hummed and she paused and looked at him.

‘My name is Ardyn.’ He said as he pointed to himself. Ardyn…he had mentioned that word before hadn’t he? She wondered what it meant…what any of what he had just said meant to be honest since none of the words seemed to align or sound similar to anything in her own native tongue. Then the male pointed at her and said another word… one that sounded almost exactly like one of her own language: You.

There was a moment of silence as Isara tried to process and understand what he wanted. Was he trying to tell her something? Was he wanting her to do something? Perhaps he only wanted her to merely copy what he was doing and saying? Did Ardyn mean oneself or wolf in his language? The girl’s head cocked a bit more than it had earlier as she debated what to do. After a little while however, she decided to try what she thought was the safest option.

Gesturing to herself, the young girl looked to the male - who seemed hopefully and eager about something - before echoing the foreign word with her own voice, “Arrrdyn,” her pronunciation could use some work as she lingered on the ‘r’ sound a bit long. After she finished though, her tail gave a small wag as she looked at the male hoping that he just wanted her to repeat him. It honestly seemed like the most logical choice at the given moment in her opinion so she waited to see just how he would respond back…while also maybe stealing a few glances back at the strange chewy meat that tasted delicious. But getting another piece could wait for now as she was more interested in how the male before her would respond.
