See My Heart in the Stars

It was a quiet night, and the valley was full of the soft hush and rustle of the wind in the grass and trees and the gentle, watery hiss of the river flowing through the valley’s heart. The skies were clear and the stars were out in force, un-hampered by moonlight.

Legacy slipped along the trail, wending her way down into the valley to the riverside. The last time she’d been here the valley had been flickering with eerie blue fireflies, and glowing plants and animals had been making the place both beautiful, and frightening.

She found a good spot where she had an unobstructed view of the sky and soft grass by the riverside to stretch out in and settled, squirming about until she was comfortably nestled into the grass on her back, paws tucked over her chest as she drew in a long sigh and let it out.

Her eyes traced the sky, finding those constellations that she knew. Once she’d located the ones she knew well, she started searching for the ones she still had a little trouble spotting.
