Mismatched eyes look around the land that the ferry connects to and Strix takes a moment to marvel at the large aspens and river that winds its way through the area. A mischievous smile tugs at his lips as the boy strikes out to do his job. It is his first time here alone and the black and gray boy is determined to make the most of it. But first, he needs to patrol. Paws turn to carry him along the border and he moves at a fast clip, eager to finish so he can go explore.

Strix works quickly reinforcing scent markers as he goes and only stopping when an unfamiliar scent reaches his nose. The rains have returned to the land and predators have been on the move to seek out shelter. Lifting his nose, he carefully pulls in the scent and realizes it isn’t just one animal but multiple. Not wanting to lose his privileges to the dam, the boy howls out a request for help before charging toward where the predators are.

A weird, laughing cackle fills the air as he gets closer and a cluster of strange dog-like creatures come into view. Having never seen a hyena, Strix wonders what the heck these things are as he races in to bite at the closet one.

"Strix Klein"

As though the fates had put him there, Chimera was in the aspens as well, working to clear away debris from the overflowing river. The rains had been intense and the den that they'd built together had been at risk of flooding and damage. The giant wolf had dug out a sort of moat around the den with a channel leading back into the river. He was just finishing up when the call from Strix rang out.

Rushing towards the scene, Chimera noted several hyenas. What was with these things? He saw Strix rush in to give one a bite and he did the same, throwing his shoulder hard into one hyena to send it tumbling before vaulting over it to sink his teeth into another.

"Chimera Klein"

What Strix lacks in raw power, he makes up for with speed. He rushes in as his father arrives on the scene and the eager grin once again curls his lips. Delivering the bite to the hyena, the small boy releases and dashes toward the next closest one, biting and pulling at the back leg of the beast. The cackling that these creatures make is slightly unnerving but that does not stop him from attacking these intruders. His sire delivers more powerful bites so Strix changes tactics and continues to move, working to confuse and distract these crazy beasts while his father strikes with precision and brute force. If a hyena gets too close, he snaps at it, biting and releasing in almost the same instant.

"Strix Klein"

Chimera's mouth was full of hyena flesh, the beast cackling and screaming as teeth tore into its scruff. Another rushed the brute from behind, but Strix snapped his jaws and distracted the hyena long enough for Chimera to turn and deliver a big bite to the side of the creatures face. The previous hyena had run off screaming and the one with the face bite followed suit. He didn't aim to kill them unless they gave him no choice, he simply wished to teach them a lesson. Don't attack wolves. Especially these wolves.

More hyenas came, their stocky bodies rushing up to circle the pair. Chimera was confident in their skills. They would be all the force needed to handle this rabble. With a snarl and a snap, the black and white behemoth rushed forward to attack the largest of them, making it an example to the rest.

Strix distracts the hyenas that aim for his father, lunging, snapping, growling, shifting positions… a deadly dance that has been performed for thousands of years. His father wounds two of cackling, screaming beasts as the small boy keeps the rest back and with two of the group having second thoughts about the attacking wolves, Strix spares his father a glance.

The boy reads where his black and white father is going to attack next and as Chimera charges toward the largest of the lot, Strix is right behind him, snarling and snapping at the hyenas that they pass. His father engages the chosen target and the small boy hangs back, fending off the rest while his sire gives them a reason never to step over Fenmyre borders again.


"Strix Klein"

Chimera slammed hard into the largest of the hyenas. Jaws found its throat and his head thrashed back and forth. The screaming beast soon died and, seeing the massacre unfold, the rest of the group tucked tail and began to run away from the pair of wolves. Chimera wasn't done yet though. They needed to learn and they needed to know: wolves weren't to be trifled with.

The black and white giant rushed after the screeching pack of creatures, teeth snapping at their low hind ends. He caught one of the slow ones and bit into its hip quickly, leaving nasty scars that would serve as the reminder. The man slowed to a stop, watching the rest of the cackling beasts retreat. Chimera gave a nod to his son. He'd done well.
