Feeling jumpy

Kotori stalked his prey with the silence that came only through long-time experience and frequent practice. It had rained recently and the scent was more diluted than normal. Frogs, crickets, and a medley of birds were a backdrop of information that was mostly ignored.
Kotori’s interest was in the white-tailed deer. He spotted the doe chewing on the grasses in between two trees. Every time the branches swayed the deer would jerk up her head and look about before lowering her head once more. She was fidgety, jumping at shadows and that was the sort of deer that lived longer than most.
Kotori watched her for a bit then slowly moved forward. She might have tricks that came from the experience of her own and he’d not underestimate it. There was a gray on her muzzle that came from age and yet her body still seemed in good form. Well, even the best prey eventually ran out of luck, especially as it got older.

The older wolf moves like a wraith through the woods, paws careful not to make a sound as she goes. Nose works, trying to find any scents on the moisture laden breeze. It takes time and some work but Eulogy eventually identifies Kotori scent and it seems there is deer near him. Quietly, the woman stalks through the shadows, the world around her barely aware of her passing. As she nears Ko, the woman lowers her body, moves more slowly, and checks the direction of the wind often. Finally, she comes to a stop near the taller male, eyes moving to Kotori in silent question. She does not speak, doesn’t even raise her eyebrows because she knows that Ko will direct her.
