The grey wolf dint mind being up this late, she have had some issues to fall asleep in the past weeks, and the reasons behind it were unknown even to her. She just didnt know what was wrong and of course she wouldnt tell others about it, she near liked the idea of worrying them. And thus she decided to suffer in silence, pretend to be right even if her eye bags and drop of energy was clear sometimes. But what else she could do?

She walked around the plains with eyes locked into the soil as she walked, wondering what would be of her. Everyone seemed to be successfully finding a bright future, families, marriages, everything. But here she was, doing nothing beyond hunting without rest, being there for them. But she was a no one, she had to admit it.

There is when she heard footsteps, stopping she spotted a group of red deer, five of them. Well...maybe a casual hunt could help her right? Help her mind fly away from the sorrow.

Backdated to before Rudy & Fern’s wedding

With the wedding approaching, Fern has felt a restlessness settle over her. It isn’t because she doesn’t want to get married, she just wants it to be over and done with so she doesn’t have to worry about messing everything up. Usually she would be asleep by now but, with Rudyard working late, their shared bed feels awfully lonely.

So, the gray woman decides to take a walk in the plains and enjoy the stars. The anxiety that had been building in her chest suddenly melts away as she takes a deep lungful of the night air and Fern sets her paws in the direction of the plains. A gentle breeze pulls scents to her nose, alerting to her to deer that are wandering close by.

A gray form catches her attention and Fern angles to join the Hallow wolf as she eyes the deer. Coming to stand with the taller wolf, the experienced hunter gently nudges the woman to get her attention before pointing a paw to the real treasure. A tapir grazes further away, the huge, fat animal truly a prize worth taking. If only Rudy was here to help. Fern is certain that if Rudyard was here, the three of them could take the beast down.

Rudyard always hunted at night, well, whenever it was up to him Rudy always did his hunting at night.  Sure, he came off as lazy when he slept in but the truth was it happened because Rudyard went to bed long after the sun had set.  His motley pelt of grey and black helped the man merge with the shadows.  The shadows tended to shift around with slight breezes and so the patchwork’s movements were a perfect fit.

The thing is, he didn’t tend to run into a lot of wolves that wanted to hunt at these hours.  So many slept, and Rudyard was used to this being his peaceful contemplative time.  These days that meant most of his thoughts were on Fern and their future.

This time thinking of Fern appeared to bring her into being.  Coming up he spotted Fern and Jane.  His eyes shift from them to the Tapir, a smug smirk coming to his face.  Perhaps the reason Rudy had become a talented hunter was truly from his tackling harder targets than he ever should.  It was amazing the wolf had survived all his antics of youth.  A tapir had nearly pounded him into the mud once as he and Reddy had tried killing it alone.

“It’s late.” The casual remark greeted the two, a brow raised at Fern.  “So, going to bed at the same time tonight?  You’ll be asleep on your feet for Art’s training tomorrow.” A nod offered to Jane as well, “I thought you went to bed at reasonable hours also,” the tone in light jest before adding to them both, “so, we killing fatty over there?”
