She could feel the wind blowing in her face. Jaybird smiled upon the hill in the sparse pines that she had only recently discovered. Finally ahe had permission to go out on her own. Her black eyes scanned the tops of trees looking at the greenary poking over the spring snow that according to her mother was just how the north was. During the summer it may have snow still on the ground. She shivered the cold was a strange thing. It never seemed to bother the adult though maybe the cold was a pups problem?

Turning from the hill she looked curiously at a tall tree behind her. It looked like it had notches and for a sudden moment an idea came to mind. She didnt know if she could do it, but it couldnt be... that dangerous? She hauled her tiny up the first notch though anxiety gripped her as her back paws left the ground clutching the bark of the tree. She got a few inches up then to the first thick branch where she stood shakily on it. YES! She was in a tree.... now how did she get up or down?

It was another day and Beauregard started it off traveling alongside Blind and Trill. His companions were getting more and more used to his presence and, for that, Beau was happy. Blind seemed to have forgiven him for siding with Maren during the storm too, for which he was grateful. He didn’t want the small fox to hate him. The yearling wasn’t sure what he was going to find today, but he was doing a favor to Mercury and helping patrol the borders. There were new members in Menagerie as well that Beauregard had noticed from afar - a woman with a scar on her left shoulder, a winged man, and even a polar bear cub that he’d been instructed was a member and not a threat.

Thankfully, with the warmer seasons ahead of them the Sparse Pines were mostly free of snow, save for where they were closest to the SS. Antiox’s territory. It didn’t feel as cold either, but still, he knew if they were further south it would be warmer still. Maybe he had just gotten used to the cooler temperatures? He didn’t know, but what he did know was that he was happy to be with the pack. He just hoped that he could get to know the wolves of the pack more and more as the year wore on.

Then, suddenly, Trill called out in alarm. Beauregard looked up in shock to see a pup sitting on a tree branch. She was shakily standing on it too… and alarm filled the yearling. What if she fell? She could get hurt! He raced forward, moving so that he was below her on the branch, and was now faced with a problem… how did he get her down? “Hey there! Please don’t move! Don’t go higher! You won’t be able to get down!” Now the question was how did he get her down?

Trill flew up beside the pup, landing on the branch a short way from her. “Hello there! I’m Trill. It’s not safe for your kind to climb trees, so we’re going to help you get down, okay?”[/color] The jay told her.
