Yearling party!
By tradition: When a pup turns 1 year old in the band, there is a party at night! It's the first time that wolf is able to drink and also experience a hangover. It's good to learn your limits early, right? Usually the Saints are around to make sure no one makes any unwanted mistakes while the Sins are there to make sure everyone has a fun time! Drinking, singing, presents, and sparring are all typical through the night.
Sparrow had taken it upon herself to work on the prep, lining the beach with as many torches as she could get Friar to make. They lit the darkness and glittered on the sand. On a round stage in the center, various drinks of varying strength lie poured into one-shot containers. Some were shells from the sea while others were shells of plants and other nick-nacks found on the boat. Between the drinks, strips of dried meats and fruits lie about for snacking. The goal here was variety. It could almost be called a wine pairing charcuterie, but much less refined. In the center of the stage, on a raised platform, Friar played a string instrument. The tunes were familiar and played often by the small animal during gatherings or parties. Pongolo flew overhead, lending extra eyesight to the lit area. It was important that none of the drunken yearlings got any wry ideas. Other packs and loners were somewhat welcome if they so wished to attend- Pongolo had since been screeching the invitation to whoever they flew past- as long as they brough good will and perhaps a gift for the yearlings. Music started, it was time to call everyone to order! |

So what if Rexx had lost his first spar in a raid? He felt no shame for it - he'd just pummel the tiny punk next time. And there would be a next time. And more raids. He wouldn't lose again, especially not to a wolf smaller than he. He still came back in one piece, tusks still intact, counted all the spikes down his back - he was good as new. He wasn't sure if Scald's pride was wounded, but regardless, they were official pirates anyways. And Rexx fully intended on destroying his liver tonight. The burly boy sauntered towards the torch-lit beach, eyes glinting with mischief he was sure was poorly concealed. He'd definitely be under the watchful eye of the Saints, particularly as the night would draw on. He only paused his eager gallop to skid to a stop in the sand, glancing back to see if his brother was lagging behind. "C'mon Scald, get your quilly butt over here!" He'd call over to Scald, his teasing tone matching his lopsided grin. He turned towards the sight of the festivities, his ears perked towards the music provided by one of Sparrow's companions. It should be an interesting time - he was determined to get absolutely hammered. |
It was his duty as the Most Unholy Sin to attend the yearling party. Except the party was being thrown in honor of his yearlings. So of course, part of him felt awkward. Surely his pups wouldn't want him to watch them all get completely obliterated. Gil sucked it up anyway and stood diligently by the table of drinks and snacks. Bottles of booze, mead, wine, and moonshine spread along the table, intertwined among smoked meat and bushels of berries. Honestly, Gil was jealous. Sometimes, he wished he had been raised a pirate and gotten his own initiation party. Tonight was about his kids though! Taking a hearty swig from his own bottle, he watched as the gaggle of young wolves began to arrive. A proud smirk lingered on his lips as he enjoyed their interactions. Gil want them to enjoy tonight and he wasn't going to let anything get in the way of that.

Unlike their father, Scald didn't really care that he lost. He could have sworn he had the guy in the last part of his scuffle but maturity had gotten the better of him. No shame in a loss. Their father had admitted he had lost plenty of bouts in his lifetime to get where he was today. The boy would admit though that he had hoped to last longer. To lose out in a raid so quickly didn't make it as fun as he thought it would have been. Rather than feeling sour about it, Scald turned his mind over to the fun they would have at the party. Trailing at a lazy pace behind his siblings, Scald looked to the crackling fires and booze-laden tables. Even from afar, it looked like it was about to be a good night! Hearing the teasing call of his burlier brother, Scald scoffed under his breath. "Yeah, yeah," he called back, picking up his steps so that he was right behind Rexx. "We may have lost our fights, but we aren't going to lose at drinking," Scald mentioned as he turned a mischievous expression toward his brother. "Where should we start first?" He asked as he moved over toward the table where his father stood near some booze. S C A L D

As Friar played on, Sparrow made her way to the man, shoulder bumping one of the yearlings on the way over. "Try that one," she said to the two who had gathered. The drink she pointed out was sweet and weak so it was a good starter.
Now to Gil, Sparrow tossed him a coy smile, "Do you remember your first drink, Gil? Bet it wasn't as fun as this party, but I'd still like to hear the story."

Of course Deluge would be late to her own party, but not as late as her mother or Flurry it seemed. A grin pulled at the corner of her lips as she moved to join her brothers, giving each a shove with her shoulder, Rexx maybe a little bit harder than Scald, "Thanks for softening her up for me," Deluge hadn't expected to fair any better than her brothers had, after all, they were the fighters, she'd been too busy running away from home to practice much, although maybe practicing on prey had helped her? Regardless she reached for her first drink, nose wrinkling at the sourness and fire, but swallowing it down none the less. This was a celebration after all, they'd made it at least this far.
