The seasons were changing and Valhalla was currently balanced between Summer and Autumn. The days were cooler and the nights chilly, but the flora hadn't quite caught onto the change. All around the brute was greenery. The leaves had yet to change and the grass was still lively and thriving. The days yo-yo'd between scorching and tepid. Much like this particular brute, the weather didn't know what it wanted to be. Dragging the body of a small deer behind him, Thor had his eyes fixed on the lake. The young animal had been injured, otherwise he wouldn't have attempted to take it on his own, but with a broken leg, the young doe would have quickly fallen prey to another predator. He'd seen an opportunity and seized it. Now he was going to share it. Panting heavily, the brute finally reached the lake and abandoned his burden for a quick dip in the water. He floated just long enough for his heart to calm and his muscles to relax. The chilly water soothed him. If it weren't so cold it was possible that he'd have fallen asleep. Thor climbed from the water a more sedate being. Soaked to the bone, Thor flopped down beneath a nearby tree that overlooked his kill. He wasn't particularly hungry so for now the carcass remained unopened, although how long that lasted was anyone's guess. Surely someone around here was hungry. If he wasn't mistaken, somewhere around here was a pup or two* and there had to be more Valhallans in the area. The terra was practically bursting with them. Tipping back his head, the brute howled to let everyone in earshot know that he'd made a kill and was determined to share it. OOC: *He smells Laufey and his siblings, if they're with their brother. Since leaving Valhalla Laufey had easily assimilated into the ranks of the rogues once more. He did what he wanted when he wanted and he took all the things he wanted without guilt. The young wolf was content with this life; at least for the time being. Still, he couldn't help the desire for stability that crept up on him once in a while. This longing is what brought him back to Valhalla, at least temporarily. Having heard the call, Laufey approached Thor head on. He stopped at the border where the pack scent was the strongest. The big brute on the other side was within earshot so the boy called to him before he came any further. Sure, Erani had given him permission to come and go, but he wasn't entirely sure of the specifics. At the very least it was polite to ask before he entered, so that's what he was going to do. "Hey, you! Big guy!" He wasn't familiar with this particular brute, but considering how big Valhalla was, that wasn't a surprise. Hopefully he'd still let him in, if only for a little bit. His call had said that anyone was welcome. "Didja mean it? Can anyone eat?" "Speech"

Erani Adravendi

Erani lapped slowly from the river, deep blue gaze watching the ripples be borne away on the currents, slowly slaking her thirst. Water was crucial to keep strong physical health at her age. That and exercise, with a few herbs for join health and immune system. She was untouched by arthritis as yet, and still walked as though she were much younger. That wasn?t to say she wasn?t old. She had seen a great deal, seen two loves gone. Had her children wander away, and some come back again. She had lived a full life. Thor?s howl rolled through the territory, and her head lifted. It was distant, in the region of the lake, and so she turned and headed toward the call. A kill had been made, by the sounds of it, and she smiled as she finally stepped into the scene, in time to hear Laufey?s excited question. She didn?t hesitate in dropping a welcoming lick to the youngster?s shoulder. ?You may indeed. It?s good to see you well, Laufey.? Her deep blue gaze lifted to Thor?s emerald eyes, and she cast him a praising smile. ?That?s a fine kill, Thor. Well done.? Gracefully, her haunches lowered, as she sat a little ways from the kill. As yet, she wasn?t hungry, and would let those that were eat their fill. To Thor, she asked, ?How are you finding Valhalla, Thor? Are you settling in well?? Walk ---- "Speak" ---- "Hear" ---- Think

It wasn't long before his call was answered. Standing on the other side of the border was a young wolf, a creature of no more than a year. He hadn't expected nonmembers to attend so readily, but he had said anyone could dine. If it had been anyone other than a child Thor would have been more resistant to the idea of an intruder eating from his kill, but Valhalla was all about kindness, right? Surely no one would object to him letting a rogue boy eat. He motioned the boy over. "I did," he rumbled, watching as the boy readily crossed the terra as if it were familiar ground. His bold entry gave Thor pause and the brute studied the younger male. The boy was big, easily the size of some adults, but his face and legginess gave away his youthfulness. He was young and scruffy, clearly used to roaming. Before he could further evaluate the rogue, Erani was on the scene. She named the child, Laufey, and Thor relaxed at her familiarity. This child was known to her, her affection made that clear. Erani spoke to him, congratulating him on his kill and the brute dipped his head, refusing to pat himself on the back for such a simple task. "Thank you, Erani," he murmured. Erani asked him about how he was doing and the brute was slow to respond, choosing his words with care. Between them, the boy Laufey was digging into the deer. "I am. I enjoy it here. It's peaceful, which is something that I'm going to have to get used to," he said with a chuckle. It was going to take him awhile to get used to being part of a pack that didn't wish to further its borders by conquest. "How are you, Erani?" Speech

Grinning at Erani, Laufey said, "It's good to be back. Thanks for letting me visit, Erani." He loved Raven and the rest dearly, but the one thing they couldn't offer him was a community. Once he was given the good ahead to eat at Thor's kill, Laufey only had eyes for the deer. He zeroed in on the carcass and fell on it with an unmatchable zeal. Or, he would have, had he not been faced with the dilemma of opening it. For a second his zeal was put on hold as he eyed the belly of the deer. It wasn't a matter of how, but where. Naturally he was inclined to start at its underside, but the meat on those legs! The boy didn't know what he wanted. He just wanted. Finally he dove at the belly and tore into it, wolfing down the contents while paying no attention to the other wolves. If they wanted his attention they were going to have to fight for it. He wouldn't be intentionally rude, but the boy was single-mindedly focused eating. "Speech"

Orochi hadn't really been interested in the call, more within the scent of his brother. His precious siblings meant the world to him Laufey and Esti were his life blood. Their beautiful coats were on par with his own specially Laufey's in its nice array of black and white and gray. It nearly made him swoon, as the boy swaying his hips back and forth approached everyone. Erani was here, as well as someone he didn't know but with a wonderful coat as well. "HELLLO, DONT YOU FEAR OROCHI HAS ARRIVED!" he splayed himself out for a moment and pressed a paw on his chest with a smile. Though seeing his brother digging into that kill he frowned slightly. And like a over protective mother trotted over next to him. "Laufey be more careful when you eat, your going to get blood all over your coat." he pouted placing a paw on his rear on the base of his tail. He only did it for a second. "After you are done mister I will clean up your coat." he said ever so confidently. Speech,

Esti heard the call. Oh, yes, Esti was very sure she had heard the call for food. She put on her fastest run and burst into the scene with a thrilled girlish giggle. Seeing her brother at the corpse was all the permission the needed and Esti threw herself at the corpse, tumbling over it and perhaps into her brother or whoever else was in her way, not that she payed any attention to either Laufey or Orochi once she smelled the kill. A small snarl rippled in her chest as she tore at the meat, gulping down all she could, offering growls whenever she thought someone was too close, which was often.

Esti could have cared less about her coat or whatever Orochi was talking about when she arrived; she had meat! Fresh meat! A ton of meat! Esti's maw was filled with the stuff and it was as if nothing else existed in the world. Esti was convinced she could and would eat the whole carcass before Orochi even got near it. She attempted to tell him to come eat too, but it came out more as a gurgled, mutilated version of his name because Esti decided calling her brother still wasn't as important as food. Nothing was as important as food.
