Kotori roamed through the redbud forest, the pink flowers blooming on this near-perfect day. The wind blew gently and the sun shone with a pleasing warmth. Life was everywhere. He could smell where rabbits had been close recently, young ones in number. Birds sang in the trees and some even higher pitched chirping of their recent hatchlings.
Habari being gone did have the upside of the forest no longer being claimed so that Kotori could now roam it freely. It was a peaceful landscape, a place good for reflection. Occasionally, it was good for finding predators but right now it seemed free of potential fun threats. His mind wasn’t on killing today anyway, it was on the princess who had left earlier for her own quest to find Hattori.
He hadn’t known her very long but he certainly liked Ochitsuki. She had been determined to leave to see Hattori and had ended up leaving while he was asleep. Kotori would go after her, he had decided that but she apparently had wanted to do this thing alone by the way she’d left so he’d give her time. Not to long if he wanted to follow her scent. He knew the direction but not the exact end other than that foolish Koi who had left Ashen.
