She loved it here. The battlefield was definitely one of her favorite places, and always would be no matter what. The smell of old blood, new blood, decay, death, desperation, confidence. It was where wolves gathered to either triumph or fail, and she liked to frequent this place quite often in search of new challenges, new faces to smack, new enemies, friends, whatever fate decided. She wasn't a hard wolf to get along with. Really, she was easy to make friends with! And she had made quite a few on the battlefield! She walked with a carefree attitude, this time, waiting for someone to find her instead of her calling for them. "Medusa"

The Battlefield was hardly what Kaija would call one of her favorite places, but it certainly was a place and that was fine by her. Didn't really matter where she went these days, she just kept moving, rarely staying somewhere for long at all anymore. It wasn't like she ever had a goal in mind, not really, but lately she felt even more aimless and all over the place than usual. Despite her lack of direction she'd had a slight interest in continuing to sharpen her fighting skills. She'd never had formal training and she liked to think she could kick someone's ass if she had to, but she wanted to be completely sure of that.

Finding an opponent here wasn't usually too hard. Instead of calling for someone, Kaija too decided to just take a stroll and see what found her. Though she expected to run into someone, she hadn't expected to see someone who looked so unusual - like she, the tusked woman, was one to talk. Medusa caught her eye with her strange skeleton-like markings and, interest piqued, Kaija headed her way.

Maybe she'd been open to a little spar, and if not, maybe the other woman would at least be marginally entertaining. "Hey, any chance you're lookin' to practice some fighting?" Kaija called out once she was within earshot, not grinning quite yet but her tail curled above her back, waving in a friendly arc.

She giggled as she walked through the battlefield, passing by other fights and taking a peek at the fighters as she walked on. Seymour kept an eye on their surroundings from the air, and the other two walked lackadaisically beside her. A low croak of warning reached her as Seymour signaled that someone was approaching, and Medusa waited until she heard the woman's voice before turning to see who it was. "OOohh! Medusa will fight you, yes! You have cool teeth! Medusa has never seen that!" She giggled with mirth, tail furiously beating the air as her paws tippy tapped the ground with intensity. "They're a kind of tusks, Medusa." Her companion corrected her, to which Medusa playfully rolled her eyes. "Tusks, teeth, same thing! They're pointy and sharp still!" She grinned at Kaija, "Medusa will fight you, yes!" "Medusa"

Kaija was open-minded enough but something about this woman seemed a little strange to her right away. Was she giggling as she walked up? She didn't focus on it for long and instead let her attention drift to her companions, sizing them up. She'd fought against opponents with companions before and it wasn't the way she necessarily preferred to fight, but she could work with it. "Okay, cool," she started, a little uncertain how to go about dealing with the stranger. Most wolves were a little predictable, even boring, but Medusa… talking about herself in third person, her little giggles and overall demeanor… Kaija wasn't quite sure how to take her.

"Name's Kaija. And thanks, I guess. I was born like this," she said with a little chuckle. Medusa's companions corrected her on the teeth thing - Kaija didn't care enough either way. "Alright, let's do it!" She'd rather dive right into it than keep talking, if she was being completely honest.

She didn't hesitate long before she dove toward her. Her fighting style was chaotic and borebones; she led with her strength rather than any kind of fancy armor or tactics. It didn't always work out good when an opponent had skillsets outside of her own but it was all she knew. Her jaw unhinged as she went straight toward her, hoping her heavier weight would be enough to force Medusa to stumble as she aimed a bite at the side of her neck, a paw lifting up to come down on her right shoulder.

Sweet, the tusked-toothed woman was going to be her sparring partner today! She couldn't wait to go up against her and see what those tusks were all about to be honest. Though she knew she had to keep away from them, they were likely to hurt more than regular teeth, no? Learning the woman's name to be Kaija, Medusa settled into a defensive stance as the pair were eager to begin. Though last minute, Medusa noticed Kaija was alone. Considering Medusa had never met Kaija and so had no real reason to try to destroy her, she motioned for her companions to sit this one out. The bones she wore rattled as they settled into place, and she cocked her head forward so the wolf skull settled nicely over her own. She didn't have fancy mutations like other wolves did, so she settled for keeping her gear to keep her more protected against Kaija's fancy teeth. Kaija was also bigger, sure. But could she keep up? She'd find out when her opponent barreled towards her, those jaws of hers opening up as the distance was closed between them. As Kaija drew close and those teeth came for her, Medusa whirled around to slam her head straight into Kaija's muzzle. Whether or not it worked, she'd have no clue. Her own brain was likely to rattle around in her skull if the impact was made, however. She was a feral fighter, all caution was generally thrown to the wind and sometimes she forgot that brute strength wasn't exactly her forte. So when Kaija's paw came down on her right shoulder, Medusa shifted her stance enough so that she wasn't forced down or pushed back too much via most of her weight shifting to that side. Meanwhile, her other forepaw reached out in an attempt to hook Kaija's grounded limb in an effort to yank it forward and out from under her. The truth was that Kaija didn't really use her tusks like that, not really, though sometimes they tended to get in the way and surely hurt more than just being smacked by her muzzle. Either way she was fine if people thought they looked dangerous. Better they avoid them than try to focus on them, because trying to break one or both was a sure-fire way to piss her off. And she didn't really like being pissed off, she didn't have the patience for that.

Somewhat surprised when Medusa's companions backed off, but she wasn't gonna complain. Better just to focus on her opponent, in her opinion. It wasn't much of a surprise when Medusa didn't just take her attack without retaliating, instead spinning her head to make hard contact with Kaija's muzzle. The slightly more feral style of fighting was something she was familiar with, but didn't often go up against. She felt the adrenaline quickly begin to course through her veins as she held strong, pushing her own weight back against Medusa.

She stumbled slightly as the other female's paw hooked under her own, stumbling forward slightly. Instead of trying to completely readjust she simply pushed forward hard, once again parting her jaws and trying to bring them down - this time aiming for the side of her muzzle.

She always enjoyed going up against all sorts of opponents. Friends, strangers, old, young, odd, normal, wolf, not a wolf. Whatever it was, she'd fight it with no questions asked! Hell, she'd go up against the most mutant-looking beast if she had the chance! She feared nothing. Fear was something she didn't understand! If anything, fear should fear her! Maybe she was ballsy, or maybe just reckless, or a mixture of the two and more. Whatever the case, she enjoyed almost every fight she got in no matter how high the stakes were. To think about the potential losses would simply cloud her mind more than it probably already was. She managed to sort of hook Kaija's forepaw, causing the other woman to stumble. Just a little. But not enough. She had no damn clue what she was hoping to achieve by trying to unbalance a much heavier opponent, but hey, it was worth a shot, right? Before she knew it, Kaija had pushed against her pretty hard, and Medusa was shoved back a good bit, her claws scrabbled for purchase on the earth but were failing miserably. She snarled as her opponent's teeth came towards her, and in a split second and not so thought out decision, she snapped her jaws towards Kaija's and aimed to pretty much fight literal tooth to tooth. Medusa's mouth aimed to grab Kaija's mouth, and to be honest, Medusa's breath was probably rank enough to make Kaija back down. Maybe.
