In the days after meeting Absinth on the neighboring islands, occasionally her mind would wander to the welfare of the girl. She had hoped that her newfound acquaintance had been able to regain the strength to care for herself and get to the mainland if that was her desire. And while she wasn’t necessarily prepared to call the monochromatic fae her friend, she did care enough about her to wish her good fortune. After the third or fourth day of keeping her distance, Talyssa couldn’t help but make the trip back out to the island she had found the castaway, caught between hoping that Absinth was still there so that they could talk once again … and hoping that for the girl’s own sake that she wasn’t. The tawny girl traced her initial path to the stretch of beach where she first saw the unusual individual- though the rolling tide had washed away any indication that it had ever hosted someone for any length of the tide. Something like disappointment flooded her chest, though she knew it was for the best. In a last-ditch effort, she’d call out. “Absinth?” Wanting to make sure that she was truly alone.

Continuing her walk around the shoreline, she’d try once more. “Absinth? Are you here?” Her pale gaze scanning the thin tree line that grew through the middle of the small island. “I just wanted to make sure you were okay.” She echoed more softly to herself. The other girl didn’t answer her. And with that, she moved on to acceptance. Absinth had gotten off the island for better or for worse. She just hoped that maybe one day they would run into each other again.
