There was food aplenty here, from the rolling waves full to the brim with fish of all species to the deer roaming the woods, Ajax had to take a moment to figure out what he wanted to hunt. Preferably something that would put up a fight and not just bolt at the sight of him. As such the fish went ignored, so did the deer as he ventured along the shoreline. Only upon spotting a wild boar did he stop and consider it seriously, pigs were as dangerous as they were tasty. It hadn't spotted him yet and was seemingly snarfing away at something that had washed ashore. Ajax took a moment to scent the air and it reeked of rotting meat and the brine of the ocean.

He moved slowly, at a casual and leisurely pace, so that even if the boar did spot him it wouldn't think he was all that interested in it. Wouldn't get all defensive before he was ready to strike. He wanted a fight, not a quick and easy kill, he wanted the boar to give all it had before he ended its life. A wolf was not a cat and thus there was no need for stalking or the element of surprise.

His ears perked as it snorted happily, ripping at the stringy meat as it pulled its head back. He would let it have one more mouthful before he struck, one more taste before the scavenger became the hunted.

He moved like a ginger blur across the sand, barrelling into the boar as he shoved it into the waves. It's legs kicked out as it tumbled, a shriek of surprise as its gaze snapped to his form, realised that it had gotten too complacent that it might die here and now.  Ajax grinned, all teeth, no light in his eyes as he allowed his claws to rip and tear into the pig as he pushed it beneath the water, holding it down as blood slowly started to seep from its scratch wounds. Its hind hooves beat at his chest, a flurry of thuds that hurt but not enough for Ajax to stop, not enough that he disliked how it felt.

It was starting to slow, bubbles rose to the surface as it garbled and struggled. If it had held still it might have been able to hold its breath for longer, but all this fuss was speeding up the inevitable. It would die and he would feast.
