Eraithus had been toying with it for a while. Polishing the bear skull and the spine that he'd collected. Yet even while he did this staring at the old prisoner quarters left a bitter taste in his mouth. The hot weather was making him irritated, his paws thrumming against the skull. The tar pits bubbled and popped around him. Some areas are more affected than others. He shifted into a sitting up position letting his dusty fur cling to him while the heat choked any want to do something. Well think, storms had a way of surprising them and a heat wave wasn't just it. An idea began to form in his head. His scarred face scrunching while he stared up at the blue sky. Only a few transparent clouds floating across it. What could they do if it got any hotter? What of the wind when it began spraying sand and dirt into their supplies? How was the rest of the pack reacting to these possibilities? Eraithus couldn't stand waiting around to see him begin walking to his supplies. Where he'd bundled a few skins and had found what appeared to be a large tattered cloth. It was white, frail, but it worked. Wondering if anyone would catch him.
He took the large cloth tarp in his jaws. Dragging it towards a more clear portion of the territory. Smooth ground with patches of dirt where wolves had laid. Eraithus set the cloth down, ears twitching as his brain worked. The blue man began to measure laying the cloth down as flat as possible. It was enough to cover at least three wolves if not a mother and her pups. This fact made him smile, his contraption could be used regularly by anyone in the pack. At the end of each corner of the cloth he dug holes. About a pawful of dirt being pulled out each time. Once that was done he hunted for four long thick branches. After finding them Eraithus forced them upward. Each one being driven into the holes.
It took what felt like hours to fully set up the tent-like base. Eraithus bundled the cloth into his jaws, finding a nearby water hole to soak it in. At first he hadn't expected it to be so heavy. With some effort the man took the now damp piece and pierced it through each supporting stick. The cool cloth covered the space sinking in the middle. Eraithus frowned, fixing the imperfection with a middle supporting stick. Standing underneath the cooling mechanism he grinned. Anyone could carry a bucket of water and throw it over the top. The water would drip down and the shade created the perfect hangout spot. Feeling cooler already he splayed out on his stomach, half opened eyes staring in complete satisfaction.
