It felt good to leave Insomnia every now and then, though she wasn't keen on going very far these days. Her mother was supposedly dead, but she didn't believe it. The woman probably just wanted to fake her death and come back for Medusa when she wouldn't expect it. If only she knew that the woman was actually dead, then maybe she could relax a little. That didn't stop her from going out to explore places she'd never been, though. She actually kind of hated the desert, but she supposed there were probably worse places. She wished the strange woman had picked something a little cooler though, as the summer had been down right miserable for the dark woman.

The heat was actually the reason she sought out the beach, traveling the farthest she had since Medusa took over. Perhaps the coastal waters would help cool her off, much unlike the hot springs back east. It almost wasn't worth the trip though, with the hot summer sun beating down on her back long before she even found the water, and later the little island off the coast. A short swim and she made it to the little island, and already she felt a hundred degrees cooler from her heavy coat soaking up the ocean water.

She was alone on the island, but only temporarily. Little fish swam around the edges, darting around and attracting the attention of the birds flying in circles overhead. She couldn't recognize the birds as she squinted up at them, but maybe they had the right idea. She was a bit hungry, after all.

A few failed attempts later and Widow finally caught herself a moderate sized fish. Unfortunately, a certain bird had it in it's head that the fish belonged to them. Attacking from above, the bird dive bombed and faked an attack in hopes Widow would back off from the fish. It worked, but only because it had startled her. With teeth bared, she growled as the bird came back for a second attempt, talons pointed at Widow as it closed in for an actual attack. Dodging it, Widow snapped forward as the bird circled back and plucked a few feathers from one of it's wing. Spitting them out on the ground, she snarled as the bird seemed to struggle flying. Now was her chance.

The osprey seemed to think that it was now or never and went in for the fish in hopes to take and run. It wasn't prepared for the extra weight of the fish coupled with it's missing feathers however and struggled a bit before ultimately giving up as Widow snapped at the bird again and plucked a few more feathers. She really just wanted this bird to learn a lesson and leave, but she wasn't above killing it and bringing it back to Insomnia for something. A bird skull would look pretty cool as a necklace, you know.

The bird cried out as feathers were plucked from it's tail and took to the air, albeit poorly, to try and defend itself. Widow could only imagine that at this point it was trying to chase her off, but she would be stupid to run off now. The bird needed to leave, or it was going to die and Widow was getting rather annoyed. When the bird pressed on, Widow ended it quickly as the osprey struggled to fly and was left otherwise helpless. It was swift really, a heavy paw pinned a single wing to the ground and the other quickly broke it's neck as it tried to bite at paw holding it down.

"Stupid bird," she mumbled as she shook out her drying coat and sighed. Now she was hungry enough to eat two fish.

"Speech!"
