Some things changed. Some things stayed the same. So much had changed in the last few months, and yet here Hazel was, getting ready to patrol the market. Fall had come, and the daylight hours were getting shorter. The market days left for this year were numbered. Soon, they'd be buried beneath a blanket of snow again. Though things had only gotten busier, more complicated, more involved, the seasons would still change. Time would still march on. She still had yearlings to train, she still had patrols to do-- why not kill two birds with one stone?

It was an afternoon patrol, dusk settling around her shoulders. It would be time to close things down for the evening, but not quite yet. Hazel lit a few lanterns as she thought about which yearling to call for. Finally deciding that it would be Kyanite, the general moved towards the middle of the Col, calling for the girl. Hoping she'd come promptly, so they could get to work.

What was that? Was that a call for her? she frowned, tilting her head as she considered the voice. That was the General, right? Her bratty nephews ‘flatmate’. She let out a world weary sigh. Ensuring the wind knew just how awful her life was. That done, she straightened up, and waited for Lioness to take her customary place between her forepaws.

She might think Basilisk was a brat, but Hazel was okay, wasn’t she? And maybe this would be interesting. She needed to find ways to prove herself. It was just… a lot of time and effort to do so, and she wasn’t always sure it was worth it. She shook aside the thought. No. she had to prove herself.

She marched into the Col, Lioness a breath in front of her, and was led to Hazel. She stopped just before the General. “You called for me?” She asked, her voice an odd twist, like she couldn’t decide if she was exasperated or respectful.
