Well tan my hide

Corbie had made her way over to the orchard to work on tanning this year's lamb- and sheepskins, along with the pelts of some of the predators that had needed to be permanently dissuaded from sampling Avalon's flock. While she preferred to work in the barn this time of year - the proximity to an established fire, within the confines of four walls to keep the heat in, made it much more pleasant in the cold weather - tanning hides had a very distinct, less than pleasant odor that she preferred to avoid subjecting the rest of the pack to. She did bring a hide tent to be able to retreat from the weather, along with the big heavy duty crocks that the tanning solution would go in and all the ingredients needed. She had already established a fire circle here by the border, far from where anyone was likely to be denning, though it wasn't as nice as the one over in the barn, so it didn't take her long to get a fire going in it and set a cauldron of water to heating. Settling down on a blanket in the hide tent facing the fire, she pulled out the bundles from the sledge and began sorting them. The pelts went close enough to the fire to warm them - they were quite frozen, though already scraped clean - while she unwrapped the big bundles of oak bark and began dumping them into the crocks, filling them up.
