Maki wasn't much of a warrior, that much was obvious. She had the height for it, all tall and leggy like her Dad, but where were the muscles? The athleticism or grace? Nowhere to be seen apparently, the only real fight she'd gotten into thus far was against her sister Unagi and that had been a puppy slap fight spat more than anything else. Now of course, she could easily imagine dramatic fight scenes and chorography in her head, but it didn't sound as cool when she put it into words and it was even less feasible when she tried to re-enact it herself.

So naturally, she made her way to the battlefield, thinking maybe it would all flow better if she wasn't swatting at things or wolves who weren't really there. It was worth a shot, right?

"Speech"

Delphi didn't often find herself trailing after her siblings, but when she noticed Maki heading toward the Battlefield, she knew she had to follow. What was her dear sis doing out that way? Mischievous curiosity lights her eyes as the small imp of a girl tries her best to keep up with her very long-legged sister. Man, why were her legs so long? Huffing and puffing as they crossed the terrain, she was glad when Maki finally stopped where she had guessed. The Battlefield!

"A-," huff and puff, "ha!" Delphi is winded as her tongue flops out of her mouth. "Maki!" She marches up to her sister, trying to puff out her chest, but dang, she needed a break first! Plopping onto the muddy and bloody dirt, Delphi splays out with all four legs dispersed in different directions. "Fight," huff and puff some more, "me!" Delphi looked up at her sister with a brimming smile before she dropped her chin to the ground to recover first.

"Speech"

"and me." they step into view, flashing a toothy smile and brandishing their dagger in comical contrast. on the brink of teenagehood, Spider has lost most of their puppy roundness and now sports a wiry frame that is all sharp edges and spiky fur, the suggestion of muscle shifting beneath their striped pelt from months of sparring and training. speaking of sparring... "hiya, Delph," they call, lifting a teasing brow. "ready for me to kick your butt again?"

their gaze flicks to the other girl, noting her spotted pelt and multi-toned eyes. her scent is similar to that of Delphi's, and they clearly know each other - relatives, perhaps? "i don't think we've met," Spider directs to the girl, stepping closer. "i'm certain i'd have remembered if we had." they throw in a wink, belying the remark with a humorous gesture. "gnarly horns, by the way."

Speech

Maki wasn't sure what to expect, but at the sound of her huffy-breathed sister rushing along she turned, her ears flicking up as her tail began to wag. Wait what? Really? Actually, yeah that was such a Delphi thing to say Maki knew she should have been caught unawares, her smaller sister was all spunk and fire. The bossiest of bitches, main protagonist goals. The newcomer had a vibe about them too, one Maki quickly couldn't help but feel in awe of. Everyone's vibes were impeccable today, she really needed to find a way to start taking notes, just for inspiration, you know?

"Hellloo. 'M Maki." She waved her tail high, in a laid back and friendly greeting. She'd picked up so many of Oki's mannerisms, they were kinda contagious. "N' thanks your...eyes are real cool."

Alas now was not the time for talk, it was time for violence!!

Maki could pretend she knew what she was doing, being confident was half the battle except well- it was obvious she was just winging it. Winging it like a flightless bird, a penguin maybe? She rushed forward, in her mind figured it'd be real cool to do a backflip over Delphi, so she jumped and- well it was more of a hop than anything else. In the best case scenario she might actually land a hit with her flailing? Probably not though. Typical Maki.

Before Maki had a chance to reply to her, another pup approached. Delphi twirls with a wide grin before sticking her tongue out at Spider. "Ha, like I'd let that happen again!" She snaps back with friendly humor and snark as she moves to let Spider in closer to their little trio.

When Spider speaks, Delphi can't help but roll her eyes a little bit. Was she jealous? Spider was her friend after all, but Maki could be their friend too... Eh, no time to dwell on pettiness! They had a fight to fight! Blood, gore, violence!! Okay maybe just light puppy violence, but it would be good enough for Delphi because THIS TIME she was going to win! She had to! There was no way she wouldn't!

In the middle of rambling in her own head, she didn't expect Maki to rush forward without saying anything to initiate the battle. A yelp leaves her as she watches her sister leap at her and start flailing about like a bird falling from a tree that didn't know how to fly just yet. Since her sister was much, much larger than her, avoiding the unruly limbs was near impossible. So instead, Delphi tries to slide into Spider, hoping to knock the other pup over as Maki's limb smacks her in the shoulder.

the stranger - Maki - takes a flying leap at Delphi so abruptly it startles Spider into action. they try to shuffle out of range, scrambling to avoid Maki’s flailing limbs. this distraction, however, gives Delphi the chance to bowl Spider over, knocking their feet out from under them. pain stings along their flank, prickling them in places where their pelt has been scraped. grunting, they scramble back up and aim to slam their shoulder into Delphi, hopefully sending her sprawling in a similar manner.

provided they remain free of the scuffle, Spider tries to pounce on Maki, hoping to take advantage of her clumsy hop and catch her off guard. should they be successful, Spider attempts to utilise the momentum of this pounce to send Maki skidding across the earth, while remaining atop her like a captain aboard a ship.

Speech

It was a frankly a mess, or at the very least Maki's attempts at cinematic fighting was. Her attempted backflip kick thing was not nearly as cool as she'd imagined and yet somehow she'd managed to hit someone, Delphi maybe, as she felt an errant paw thud against a shoulder. It wasn't difficult at all for them to take advantage of Maki's- well Makiness. In her mind fights were clean and choreographed, more like a dance where she'd just know what her opponent intended to do next. But since Maki didn't have this imaginary sixth sense, she felt a weight that send her fumbling, legs criss-crossing and uncrossing as she briefly panicked. The WAH! noise she made in alarm was very uncool, everyone please pretend you didn't hear that.

Delphi unceremoniously stumbles into Spider, both pups go sprawling out across the dirt. While Spider is faster than her to get to their paws, Delphi needs a moment to collect herself. Shaking the stars from her eyes, she stands up to her own paws and watches as Spider does a flying leap onto the laid out Maki. Was that a WAH sound she had heard echoing from her sister? She can't help but laugh as she goes barreling to the sliding duo. As she closes the distance, Delphi aims to jump and leap up onto Maki and Spider to be the very top of the puppy pile! A triumphant screech definitely leaves her whether or not she's successful.

Spider yelps as a sudden weight bears down on them, squishing them into Maki. most might simply shake Delphi off given her small size, but she’s about Spider’s weight so the move is rather effective. “oomph!” they complain, thrashing around helplessly. the entire thing is so ridiculous that after a moment they simply deflate, head bowed as they accept their fate as the middle of a puppy sandwich. then they begin to giggle, grinning up at Delphi as the humour of the situation sets in. this might just be the silliest fight they’ve ever been in - but stars is it fun!
