does anyone want a puppy for christmas?!
Jael + pack AW
Gil had been careful to keep Jael tucked away for the first week or so since her arrival that stormy night. Her condition had been dire and he wanted to ensure she wouldn't be bothered by any of the others while she recovered. Now that she was able to at least walk on her own, he felt more comfortable allowing the rest of the pack to meet her. In a way, he felt responsible for her care and well-being since he had been the one to save her from quite literally dying. Though he felt sure that she was ready to meet the pack, there was still hesitancy. The pack wasn't exactly always known to be... gentle. "Don't let them bully you," he warns her with a smirk as he leads her out to the grassy courtyard that lies in front of the main building. Allowing her to walk out at her own pace, he waits patiently until she is comfortable enough. Gil then tilts his chin to the sky and lets loose a welcoming howl for all and any raider that wants to come to hang out. ”Speech” ’Thought’ |
* Free for anyone to come meet and hangout with Jael!
gilgamesh is aggressive, don't trust him
From the confines of his greenhouse, the booming of his father's howl was nearly deafening as it rattled the windows. He lifted his head from the aggressive digging that had been occupying the better part of his morning, and off he went to see what all the fuss was about. Spindly, awkward limbs were shoved awkwardly through the fissure in the concrete wall that served as his only entry and exit. As time went on.. it seemed to be turning into a tighter squeeze. A problem for future Nim, certainly. He didn't bother to clear the scraps of vegetation or clods of soggy dirt that clung to his greyscale pelt, more concerned with seeing what his dad was unveiling. Bedraggled and grinning from ear to ear, he wandered into the courtyard to see a very tiny canine clinging to his father's flank. Oh! Oh this was awful! He was already being replaced! Brow furrowed and tail flagging over his hocks, he marched up as scary as he could manage, leaving a trail of dirt in his wake. The little storm cloud of a boy lumbered up close to get a good look at this weirdo. Floppy ears, like a baby. That was all he needed to confirm his suspicions, his dad had brought home a new kid, specifically to replace Nimbus. A new kid with really fluffy fur, and markings that looked a lot more like Gil's than the grey pup's did. Frowning even harder so that this new kid couldn't see the tears brimming in his little red eyes. "Who're you?" he barked, and then looked up at his dad's towering form. "Who's that? What's she here for?" there was an edge of panic in his tone, because he was a child who, due to being a child, didn't understand subtlety. The new child had a brace on her leg, so clearly they were taking care of her like a baby. Nim couldn't believe this, he'd already been replaced with a fluffier kid they rescued from... a bear or something. What did he do to deserve this?! "Nimbus" raindrops by sqdpxl

Jael barely gets her words out before a plump grey pup comes barreling toward them. Gil moves his gaze from Jael toward his son who looks rather irate. A brow raises as he tries to hide his smile. The show of intimidation in Nimbus is comical for the boy since Gil had never seen the boy so... furious. Even when Nim turned his attention up to him and demanded an answer, Gil gave his head a little shake before lowering it to press his nose upon his son's forehead. "Nim, calm," he urges the boy, laughter still in his voice. "This is Jael. She was injured, and I brought her here to recover. I believe she would like to stay. If that is okay with you?" Gil smirks as he lifts his head and tilts his chin down to give his boy a curious look. Would Nim and the others accept the girl? Or would they feel threatened? Out of all of them, if Nim or Ken didn't like Jael, then she had more things to worry about than them. Why were his sons always more chilled out than his daughters? ”Speech” ’Thought’ |

Picking up a trotting pace, Cal makes her way to where she can scent her father and her siblings and... someone she didn't know. Her brow furrows as she draws closer and stops dead in her tracks. Nim and Sid were screeching at the stranger, but why wasn't their father doing anything? Dropping her kill and quickly forgetting it, Cal doesn't waste any more time. Closing the distance, Cal rushes up on the group and skids to a stop behind Jael. Looming over the small girl so that Jael was fully encircled by enraged puppies, Cal bristles and lifts her lips before releasing a vicious puppy growl.
"Answer her, ye scurvy scoundrel," Cal hisses as her ears flatten. Maybe she was spending too much time with Sid. No such thing.
Warning: Calliope is callous, rude, and unpredictable. Do NOT expect nice things from her.
Still, he finds himself reassured that she's merely a visitor at the moment. A lost soul given a place to rest while she recovers. Sniffling lightly, he drops his gaze. A heavy shrug of the shoulders, though he doesn't say a word yet.
Thank whatever gods might exist that he has rambunctious sisters with no tolerance for bullshit. Sid and Cal come barreling through making demands, and the dove grey boy has the chance to slip out of his dad's grasp and leave the floor open to watch his sister's interrogate the woman in his stead.
He snickers quietly to himself when Sid makes a point to claim dislodged teeth for her own, and he won't argue. She's already bigger, and already winning every one of their puppy brawls. So he sits quietly, waits to learn a bit more from their dad about this weird lady.
