It is early, the sun barely beginning to kiss the earth when Simurgh opens her eyes. A glance is spared in the direction of her siblings; a mess of bodies and limbs as they sleep peacefully with their mother and father. Sim’s ears perked up. Hmm, well if they were all sleeping… then she had the chance to go out alone! Simurgh got to her paws, carefully creeping over the siblings on the outer edge of the pile. She felt her leg brush over a sibling and, without looking back since it was the last of them before her freedom, made her escape.
The girl hurried into the pale light of morning, paws hitting the stone with gentle clicks from her claws as she scrambled out into the open. And there she saw one of the most amazing sights. The world was waking up, the sun barely breaching the horizon, and colors or pink, purple, and orange illuminated the sky. Simurgh’s mouth fell agape as her tail wagged back and forth behind her. To think that if she was still sleeping she would have missed this!
