With the boldness of the predators encroaching on their territory, Haydée has decided to it is time to take the attack to them. With her niece, Nova, in tow, the pair make their way into the neighboring area of Grapevine Cathedral where a large grizzly bear had been seen poking around. Pulling to a halt, she looks over to the much taller Nova and says, “Okay, remember Nova, we just need to chase the bear away so that it will twice about coming near Ethne’s borders. I want you to try and go for the back legs while I will attempt to keep its attention on me. Be careful and please, stay safe.” A smile is offered to the younger wolf as worry churns in her stomach.

Turning back to the area in front of them, Haydée leads the way toward where the musk of the grizzly bear lingers, hoping that she can keep Nova safe while also teaching her how to fight large predators. The beast soon comes into view, lumbering lazily along underneath the sunlit canopy of vines. Glancing over to Nova, she inhales sharply and gives a dip of head, silently hoping that she safes. With that, she races up to where the grizzly is, immediately invading its space and cutting off its path while growling loudly. It hesitates a moment, unsure why such a small wolf has decided to try and stop it but the beast continues to try and move forward.

A pool of sunlight catches the steel of her dagger as it is quickly unsheathed and Haydée delivers a stinging wound to the creature’s face. It stumbles backward as blood wells on the grizzly’s cheek and it roars its anger, deciding that this tiny wolf needs to be taught a lesson. With a loud growl, Hay lunges forward for another attack.

Nova had been growing more and more interested in learning more about fighting and what it meant to be a warrior. She was aware of her size and she wanted to put it to good use, which was to defend her family and pack. Her father himself was a fighter, and that added to her aspirations. She wanted to make him proud and thus the young wolf had agreed to accompany her aunt on the mission of driving out any dangerous and bold predators that could represent danger to her family. Without fear Nova followed Haydeé like a shadow, taking in all she could learn from the leader of their family.

Soon after, she spots the bear. A big one. They needed it gone and soon. She nodded to her aunt's instructions. Eyes narrowed Nova snuck from behind as Haydeé went into the offensive. As quietly as she could be Nova approached the bear's rear legs and like a viper she struck the bear's left back leg aiming to bite strong enough to make it hurt. She wanted to give the bear a painful reminder of his transgression.

As they approached the grizzly bear, her niece remains silent while Haydée shares words and she knows that her younger niece is processing all the details that is being thrown to her. Whether they are fighting predators or other wolves, there is a lot information that has to be taken in and processed quickly to keep, not only you, but your fighting companions safe. And, while the best way to learn how to fight is by actually doing that, it can also be a very nerve-wrecking experience.

Taking a deep breath, she gives sharp nod, the young Leader kicks off the fight, charging toward the grizzly and cutting off its path toward Ethne lands. What the small wolf lacks in size, she more than makes up for with the sharp bite of her dagger. Nova grabs the bear’s attention, her bite drawing its concentration away from Haydée for a moment and Hay quickly darts in to regain its ire.

Steel dagger flashes as she slices through the fur and fat that surrounds one of its front ankles and earns herself another, angry roar. Now thoroughly irritated, the huge beast aims a bite her way but the nimble girl is easily able to dance out of harm’s way. As she moves, Haydée darts a glance to her niece, making sure that the younger wolf is as safe as can be given their current predicament.  With a growl she lunges back in, working to keep the grizzly facing her.
